Hi

Because of weather and bank holidays although I did work the last one for first time ever and a good job I did as it rained rest of week.

How many windys work on a sunday,I want to go out today ( looks a roaster ) but nervous of my ugly mug looking at the family having there roast thru the window or dribbling window cleaning water on there BBQ's lol.

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

Really don't know what to do and looking at weather its rain all damn week again here.

Come on dodger you worked any sundays your in my area. What you other windys think.

I tend to book jobs in on weekends including Sundays in advance so no real issues for me as they know I'm coming. Not tried catch back on just windows though but the only way to find out I suppose is to give it a shot. I’m sure if you explain when you turn up a customer doors most will not mind and you may even pick up new work too.

I'll be honest & say that personally if you turned up to clean my windows on a Sunday without appointment, I'd be annoyed & you'd get sacked.

Sunday is my day - just me & my family, with not interruptions, no stresses & no business,...

If it was booked in advance then its totally different,.. but just turning up is a defo no-no for me.

Sundays can be difficult, particularly on days like today when its lovely and sunny. Some customers may be out in the garden having a barbie or may have friends round for drinks......I dont think they would appreciate having a windy round their property. I nearly always work on a saturday, but that can sometimes be awkward on warm sunny days if people are entertaining outside. On the other hand, we all have customers who we know wouldnt mind, so as long as you let them know in advance, then should be no problem.

Personally, I wouldnt bother. I am ready for a rest on sunday and my garden and allotment calls.

I know what you mean about next weeks weather. Looks dodgy and it may not be a productive week, but you never know. Like you, I am way behind.

the other month i did some empty houses on a Sunday morning for a firm and regretted it. neighbours wanted theirs doing plus it was very windy and i normally work with a crew but was on my own . every house was 3 storey

Sounds like a pain boar. Very windy and three story houses isnt a nice combination.

i believe you could develop a cracking Saturday/Sunday big day thang, purely and simply because folk would see you doing it. However ,do you really want to start something like that? -because once you start it youd have to keep it up . i suppose you could take a weekday off or maybe get a worker to do it instead.

having held out for 6 years from it, i personally am NOT going to start now , not with a . who would want to do it, maybe youd pay double time, but then youd need to get more work in to make it pay,itd never end!

Yeah I have not gone ( but wish I could have ) ,must admit sunday is the one day we all look forward to having off and that's cutting out all the religious **** from it as well.

I do have a windy that I do one day a week for that works every bank holiday whats your views on those as I didn't do those for same reason as I was use to bank holidays off when I was employed for years. But having worked one no one batted an eyelid.Andsame as other windy says everywhere is more expensive everywhere is more busier he can have his bh off anytime he likes when its quiet hmmmm !!??.

Bank holidays are the same as sundays for me, but as said earlier, there will be customers who really dont care what day you go. You just need to know who they are.

Life is not all about work though. Its there to be enjoyed.....for one time only.

yep with you on that mr taytay...as my mums poem says...what is life.if you havent got time to stop and stare....the full poem is better but the point is you have to have some chill time...

worked my first two bank holidays ever this year...not windys though ..painting on one...and odd jobs for a custy who was away ....and a grass cut......but i did have a wednesday off recently...dodgy weather..

Dodgy weather days off arent quite the same.....I am always looking out of the window....will It or wont it clear?. You cant quite relax like on a normal day off.

yeh had many a day doing that...i really only like it when it doesnt stop raining all day....dont get any money in though.../emoticons/smile.png

Best time to have a day off and enjoy it is when it's snowing. When it's raining there is usually a gap in the day when you could've gone out, and I usually keep looking out the window every 10minutes to check the clouds, so I never relax. But when it's snowing, it's defo a no goer, plus the custys will think you're a berk.

Dodger Is still about.....he just lurks, silently.

Diversify. Have things in the pipeline ready for the bad weather and you'll never be disappointedits
Its a good thing to do tolish.......I always have a few non window jobs stashed, but the difficulty comes on days when the weather cant quite make Its mind up. I always have my window customers booked in by text, so they are expecting me. I am often sat in my car thinking shall I cancel all my windows and get on with something else. You can guarantee that as soon as I cancel, the sun will come out.

Ps.....a lot of the jobs I have stashed are gardening tasks, which can still be difficult when its pouring down.

I understand mate, I've had the same myself recently. One thing that may be good for yourself is to drop the texting. I know some people need it for access issues and the like, but for the ones that don't need it, it will save you a lot of pre planning/cancelling by not texting beforehand. For other jobs, try having jobs that are not weather dependant- carpet cleaning, insides only window cleaning, oven cleaning, or even something totally different like painting, handyman work etc. Its easy to keep the dates vague with this kind of job, and then when it rains, give your customer a call and say you can come round today. This is similar to what I do, and I never get put out of work by the weather anymore.
