Ladders secure?

WCF

Help Support WCF:

That was what I started to do that worked a treat on my old van.

Now I have a larger van with a pull down ladder rack so it's a bit harder to forget to put the ladder clamp on.

Years ago I lived in a place called Allenton , real **** pit of a place , and one evening I had my ladder and pointer swiped off my van they ripped my D lock to shreds too, my new purchased ladders and new pointer I painted them striped blue and yellow , they looked stupid , 2 days later stollen :gush: I was gutted , thankfully now I live in a lot posher area but still lock my equipment in the garage at night:confused:

you cant really ever take your eye of stuff....its a pain but i wont leave my kit unless its in my sight...or locked up...:specs

Honestly thought they looked so stupid and obvious they were mine nobody would steal them ,, I was wrong

I leave mine on my car on the drive

Usually locked with the padlocks that came with the clamps

Most people round here know me and know it would be a bad idea to nick them

Just ask the windie who punched me in the face for working in the same area a few years ago..lol

He actually attacked me in my car

I was collecting in the evening and heard

"You a window cleaner"

So opened window and said yes mate ..thinking I was gonna get a job

Next thing foot in face and him on top of me hitting me with my own car keys ..scars on my arms now where they were covering my face

Worked out who he was as the only mixed race windie in stevenage

Old bill wanted me to id him in shopping centre but brother in laws mates said don't id him and we'll sort it

Safe to say he still lives local but doesn't clean windows and avoids me at all costs

which way did the stripes run ?

a couple of years ago i saw some decorators ladders where the stile sides were painted a dark colour and then old fashioned style signwriting lettering of the guys name in white applied on top . this looked very nice

i have a small 1 foot long section on each section of my ladders painted a navy blue with yellow stencilling of my phone number.

what he do now?a couple of years ago i employed a windie from Equador. he knew how to clean windows and was good at it. but he was a real rogue and i later found out had left all the other firms in the area under a cloud. he wrecked my 2nd van and then tried to claim compo . if he had claimed whiplash he might have got somewhere but he claimed total paralysis from the eyes down [ but was still cleaning windows on ladders]

anyhow i sacked him and he then set up on his own in a matching van to mine ,pretending to be my brother in law and poaching customers. thank god he never had my job list or he would have devastated my biz as he was very cunning .

he found a canvasser to build him a decent round cos he couldnt speak english well. but then he tried to trick the canvasser into handing over the customer list before he paid with no intention of paying a penny . The canvasser had spent a full week on the street in Ipswich but was no fool so didnt hand it over. Later he rang round all the local windies including me see if anybody wanted to buy it-i felt really sorry for this canvasser ,who incidentally came from somewhere in Herts . but i couldnt take on such a big list in 1 hit .

this equador rogue lasted about a year and then suddenly disappeared . i also had 2 polish lads let me down but thats another story

i wont ever employ another foreigner now
