This three bedroom semi was done for £45.00 the other day by a person who just does gutter cleans. He tries to book in 3 or 4 a day. He didn't clean the gutter outsides, soffits or the fascias - just an internal gutter clean.

He left tell tale dirty marks on the outside of the gutters in several places to show that he was there.

I had thought of getting the ladders off the van to see what sort of a job he did, but in the end decided not to waste the energy doing it. It wouldn't have made any difference whether it did the job properly or not and who is going to check up on him?

I wish we could get your prices Smurf.

That guy could have been me when I first started out but I soon learnt not to under price jobs.

I went to my second ever customer today who had been doing her own windows for a while. The frames had never been cleaned before so they were quite dirty and I wasn't happy with one window so I did it again. My question is, how long should I have spent on that house (3 bed new build detached) seeing as it was essentially a first clean and should I have charged her more, I charged her £8.
ide charge £10 / £11 for that size house as long as it has no conny as for a first clean it depends on how dirty they were i use ubik2000 sprayed on the brush that rips the dirt off with ease so i can save time on the scrubing

£15 without a conservatory, £20 with. I really feel for you guys in areas that are forced to price so much lower.

Both in Devon. Tench, put your prices up mate /emoticons/smile.png

Going back to the op there are window cleaners in my location that I know one would charge £8 anther £10 another £12 and me £15 -£25 depending how frequent the clean is (without a conservatory or extension on the back)

Less is more as they say so I prefer to work less for more /emoticons/biggrin.png

it depend who is wrking in ur neck of the woods there is a guy going round under cuting every one at the minit most will tell him on ur bike but comershel is a different story im happy with £10/£11 for that tho ide get tole to bugger off at £15 lol buy most :rolleyes:/emoticons/biggrin.png

I clean a similar house to this on an estate in a village for £18. Yes I was pushing my luck but I don't really need the work. I started doing it two years ago. Now I do two others at £18 and another 2 at £25.

There is another window cleaner going onto the estate and he charges £13 for my £18 jobs. I have never met the guy but it appears that he is a bit grumpy and they don't like him because of it. I try to be nice and helpful, always smile and polite. They told me recently of a new window cleaner who came and canvassed and they proudly told them that they had me.

In short, if you can charge more do. Once you have them they don't often change.

Like I sad before there is no right or wrong price as long as both the cleaner and customer is kept happy.

You could be the cheapest or even dearest cleaner going but if the potential customers don't like you for whatever reason you will never win the work.

No Tench, I'm in Mid Devon. I tend to work in West Devon and Mid Devon. I have a couple of larger jobs in East Devon. I only go to your neck of the woods for leisure, never for work.

yep spcleaning..if you can get it do....the best time is when people move but....i just found out one of mine that sold is only moving local...so...it depends if they bring their windy with them and how much he charges .../emoticons/biggrin.png

I've seen plenty that charge a fiver a house like that being a fortnightly trad clean but was a few years ago.

2 pound 50..what about the upstairs windows at the front??I would only be doing that bottom 1 for 2.50
