Bought some Ecover today

Dragging an old thread up

but i had to change my resin for the first time last night since going RO, and thought why the hell am i not putting my spare di into use?

So i am going to put it inline after my RO so i have 000 going into my ibc, even though i changed my pre filters recently i cant get my water below 002-003 nowadays so my di in the trailer is doing the final polish.

So seen as my ibc water will be 000 i can then use my trailer di for top ups only while out and about, but more importantly this will let me try ecover in my trailer tank as i wont be running the water through a di before going up the pole which hopefully will make bird cr@p removal easier.

Plus i wasn't keen on using the trailer di for topping up as i knew this would kill the resin quicker, it still lasted well over six months.

I shall post my results

Sorry to bring back a old thread but could ecover be used to clean conservatory roofs. I know most people use. Ubik, virosol or even autosmart but as I've not cleaned one before I'd be nervous of making a mistake and ecover would be nice and safe but would it do the job?

Yes it would do the job, but would take longer to do. I spray diluted Virosol on, let it work in for 5 minutes and rinse, piece of pish. Don't use chemicals like Virosol on self cleaning glass though, Ecover would be ok on it if you wanted to use it.

Thank tuffers I I am tempted with virosol I suppose at the moment I just don't have the confidence. Scared of messing it up. How do you apply ie what dilution. Also how do you know if it's self cleaning glass.

Be confident mate! I use a 5L pressure sprayer that's attached to an old pole, you could make up a mixture in a bucket and dip your brush in and rub that over the shite and rinse off. I use a ratio of 5 parts water to 1 part Virosol roughly. You can tell if it's self cleaning glass as it will have a purple kind of tint on it.

HTH

Thanks pal really appreciate think I may bite the bullet and go for it, you can get 10 litres from amazon £20 free delivery. How long do you leave it to dwell for?

Leave it on for 5-10 minutes, if you leave it on too long it can stain the whites. You'll know if it's been on too long as the white will turn light a shade of orange

If you're doing a conny roof, start with the crest. Spray both sides and rinse off. Then start on the roof. Spray about 3 panels with your mixture, rub all the shite off the whites and panels so the gunge has been lifted (don't do a full rinse yet). Go to the next 3 panels and repeat until, you've gone over the whole roof. Then rinse it all. It helps to use a sill brush with fan jets, also have a clean brush to hand when doing the rinse. I usually end up doing the whole conny as I can't stand leaving some of it looking dirty (even if I've been asked to do just the roof). A medium sized roof should take around an hour to do.
