Window cleaning wars!!

I went for a quote the other day that turned out to already have a window cleaner, I asked point blank how much he charged which was similar to what I charged and said I would charge exactly the same.

Though I also mentioned I would do the frames which were filthy.

Never under cut unless the guy was charging stupid money, this actually happened for the first time the other day, the customer asked for a one off clean and said they had asked someone local (it was quite a distance from me) and wanted £55 for an outside window clean on a normal 3 bed terrace!

Oh and please do share how you get so many customers so quickly, awesome work...

I have got 8 customers in 2 weeks without canvassing, just using word of mouth, facebook and flyers, would love to be hitting the numbers you are AJ.

Also I do windows on 4 or 8 week rota, is it usual for people to only offer 4 weeks?

Awcs has seen my customer list when he came and flogged me 2 poles the other week, so he can vouch for my amount of work. I'm not bragging I'm merely pointing out that it can be done quickly without robbing people's work or buying a round. Why didn't I buy a round? Because I don't want a round of underpaid jobs and I wanted to deal with all my customers on a fresh basis in a professional manner. If anyone genuinely wants advice on my methods I'd gladly help should they need it.

Must admit buying a round doesn't appeal to me either, for same reasons as yours, but also because I would like the satisfaction of doing it all myself.

I can honestly say I have seen AJ's customer list and its impressive for the time he has been working! It makes me seem lazy

Myself I've never come across anyone (domestic work) that wants their windows cleaned with wfp as frequently as every 2 weeks. After saying that I've had quite few that wanted to go from monthly to bi-monthly cleans though.

So far I am finding around 2/3rds want it every 8 weeks, but I offer 4 and 8 weeks to make things easier for myself, wondering if I am doing it wrong.

isn't 6 weeks a bit of a pain as it doesn't match up with other houses? that is why I thought 4 and 8 would be better as then it crosses over.

Regarding frequency keeping on top of a round can be very challenging at times due to bad weather. Especially winter months using wfp method when the temp drops below zero.

But some just carry on as normal

This week 67 normal cleans, 4 commercial, 3 fascia and gutter cleans, 2 full bungalow cleans (inc facscias and gutters and conserv) picked another 3 full cleans while doing one yesterday. Cheapest being £130. And 4 commercial jobs. I still leaflet at least 1 street per day if I'm busy, whereas when I started I was knocking out upto 2000 a day plus follow up door knocking 3 days later. Granted I'm fooked and worked the first 8 weeks at 12 hours a day but I think it's payed off.

All that work just using a wfp trolley must be ball breaking humping water and trolley about each day?

Not at all, I got my trolley handle extended by 8 inches when I purchased it so I don't need to bend over for it. 25 ltrs ain't heavy. Time to man up son: D

How many 25litre water containers do you need to carry in your car each day, to do 13 house a day plus your commercial work?

Allen you have to remember smurf is 105 years old so 25 litres is heavy for him:giggle:
