Highest td you can clean with?

Myself I stick to 000 ppm as then if I get any spotting I know it's down to the method not the water I'm using

Once mine rises above 0 ppm I change, because I only use wfp for high up, and windows that are too dangerous to reach with ladders I want to walk away from a job knowing its done to the best standard that can be achieved.

We work with 0 tds 99.9% of the time. I know we can go to as far as a tds of 4 but we can start to see traces of spotting above that with careful inspection. (I have experimented with a backpack and slowly 'contaminated' the water and then cleaned my own windows.)

I have often heard of cleaners who say they can clean with a tds of higher than 10 with perfect results. Either they haven't checked their results closely enough or, if thats a genuine observation, then the original water composition makes a difference.

For us we are on the North East coast and windows are very badly effected by the spray that gets blown in off the sea. So we make sure the water is always at 0 and we tend to over rinse to make sure of a spot free result.

I clean at 2 or 3 but I can let it go to 5 or 6. Once cleaned at 44 for a week and only got 1 complaint... loyal custies...

7 to 8 for me although did once clean with 11 & never got a complaint. Was expecting it but checked the windows next day & were fine.

Because I only clean windows I can't reach with squeegee I do tell my customers that will clean it with wfp but may not be 100%. They always are but I just cover myself. Only coz IMO squeegee does a better job. Still have a few people say there still wet as I'm leaving bless em.

I have cleaned with 30-odd before on more than one occasion when I've been caught out with resin going off. I've always got away with it & not noticed any spotting etc. As I'm twin DI anyway, there is nothing to gain by letting the TDS rise so I change at about 4 or 5 normally. /emoticons/smile.png

Thanks a lot for all the feedback, I ruined my resin on first set up, schoolboy error, so was worried my water would be no good and have some jobs for it Monday, it is currently sat at 19/20, cleaned my own windows and it was perfect so happy days /emoticons/biggrin.png

I always tried to keep mine at 000 but at times I was lazy and it went up to 010 it still seemed to clean fine but this was on windows I did monthly.

I use mine upto ten, then you know you have to change the resin sharpish,it rises very quickly.then, what I do is fill all of my water butts up once it goes over ten and re run through the new resin in my di vessel.

Or get twin DI vessels

I've rinsed with tap water (170ish) on my own windows before, never had a problem as long as it's rinsed very well.

With all these high ppm numbers kicking about , have we been advised wrong by keeping it around 000ppm ???? Interesting

Perhaps it's to with what the solids/minerals are, within the water?

A 170 tds in one part of the country could have a completely different content than water with the same tds in another? Would different minerals 'spot' differently than others.........?
