a risky job too /

i knew 2 intructors, each with their own business, both ended up quitting after a few years as got bad backs/necks after pupils crashed . one poor guy ,his back actually locked up one night in his bed and had to be carried down his stairs by the firebrigade on a motorized stretcher

"still at the wheel"

It's risky but I'm pretty sure we're in the most dangerous job going

You don't hear of many driving instructors getting killed or injured each year but sadly you do hear of window cleaners.

They has been 3 deaths in Derby City centre within the last 20 years , most from falling from ledges

one of those instructors told me its a crash every 2 yrs on average./ and chinks are the worst for it!

Must be something to do with their....

Sounds to me he is not a very good instructor not being able to take control of the car when needed.

Tried a few different jobs over the years, window cleaning and one other were self employed. These have been the best. Jobs that I ve been employed I mostly hated... too many di@kheads all to keen to put you down, back stabb and the rest of it, bosses that never appreciate how much you do, pressure passed down the line.

I can honestly say I will go to bed tonight and not be dreading that sickly Monday morning feeling I used to get at the thought of going to work and spending 8 or 12 hrs doing something I hated. All jobs become repetitive but at least when I've had enough for the day I can pack up and go home..."because I can"

The grass always looks greener but believe me it isn't . It's the poor soles going to work in factories ect I feel sorry for. lol

For me the money is secondary, had some well paying jobs over the years that I hated, would much rather be ticking over money wise and happy than rolling in it and unhappy all the time.

As a youngster I always dreamed of either being in the Army or Police service.

Strangely I have done both. Enjoyed both. Feel proud to have served. I have no interest in any other profession now to be honest and see window cleaning as more like a lifestyle than a job. I love the choice, freedom and enjoy living my life, seeing my wife and children all the time. We are also foster carers for the County and care for small children alongside our own. This wouldn't be so easy if I had a 'proper' job.

So window cleaning ticks all my boxes.

Some have been concurrent, but I could not go through life being just one thing, a sparky for instance. I liked the Audio Visual stuff and the Music stuff best, but am glad to be window cleaning, as no stress. I'm 50 so been around long enough to try stuff.

Well as "variety" been the spice of life for you PTWC...? or do you just get bored quickly....lol

I like doing a variety of stuff.

There is a common thread through a lot of it, going by that list. Above all, I like making things. Installation of one thing or another has been my main thing I enjoy. For instance setting up my RO and fitting out my van is enjoyable to me.

This is my battery box, I made.

It has a connector plug on the cable, so it can be removed from the van easily.

But as you may see it also has an isolation switch and a voltmeter which tells me its charge state at any time

Inside, I have an 110AH leisure battery.

Cover is off to show the internals.

It also has wireless remote control fitted, but I just use the manual switch usually.

A good idea for your trolley is to fit a non return valve and filter on the pick up pipe. It prevents water from escaping when changing barrels, so you do not get any air lock problems.

The Pure Freedom trolleys use the same part.

Here shown on another trolley I made.

Here is an analogue (non digital) Flow controller, for a van Mount or trolley system.

I made this one to sell.
