....Tuffers is watching Corrie! /emoticons/biggrin.png

That was very good, but I wonder how the media will portray it tomorrow since its being used to advertise a supermarket, even though it was in partnership with the british legion.

Always wondered how they managed to go back to fighting after that.
Thats exactly what I was thinking. There was a programme on once saying how many bullets were fired vs kills, and said that many people 'aimed' to miss. Killing just isnt very natural even for soldiers, especially when you are sent to fight, as opposed to defending a loved one from an attack.

so funny that me watching it too the daughter works for sainsburys and told me it was on.....okay...i cried both times as i am watching it again now....:gush:

Suppose it was kill or be killed. I meant to stop working at 11am yesterday for a 2 minutes silence. I saw a bloke parked up at the side of the road and then he started the engine and drove off. I looked at the time and it was 4 minutes past 11. I forgot /emoticons/sad.png, I could have slapped myself for that.

yep me forgot too but it whats in the heart that counts....when you think what they went through ...one of my favorite programmes is world at war....i cant believe we went through that....

the question is....was i even out yesterday at 11 oclock ....:eek:oh i cant remember this morning let alone yesterday..........

all i know is in the last war i would have flown a spitty....

John Lewis are my favourite adverts

I did stop for 2 mins but only after driving past a memorial that reminded me.

Love the Poppy's in London. Credit to the country.

Great advert, tears! Had trouble convincing my children it actually happened. I did stop for 2 minutes on the 11th, but could easily have missed the time. The Poppy's at The Tower of London are out of this world. We are kicking ourselves for not going to see them as I believe that it was a huge bit of history that will not be repeated on such a scale! Maybe window cleaners should venture onto other turfs and start a football match, swap a bit of chocolate?!!! Too far?

Germans and brits playing football in no mans land I can believe, windys together down the park, pure fantasy!

and just cant believe some people have complained about it ....how sad....we should always remember what they did.....
That's the way of the world now bud ... No respect for anything / anyone ..if it's makes money for the British legion .. Brilliant ... I'll buy that chocolate bar for presents this year

well i just have a report that all the choccy bars are sold out....not bad when the profits go to the british legion....i have just had a taste....a mixture of galaxy and dairy milk... me loves all choccy..../emoticons/biggrin.png

The Second World War (World War 2) lasted from 1939 to 1945. It was fought in Europe, in Russia, North Africa and in Asia. 60 million people died in World War 2. About 40 million were civilians.

On the morning of 6 August 1945 an American B-29 bomber, the 'Enola ***', dropped the first atomic bomb used in warfare on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. The bomb was dropped by parachute and exploded 580m (1,900ft) above the ground. Between 60,000 and 80,000 people were killed instantly.

The total number of military and civilian casualties in World War I was over 37 million. There were over 16 million deaths and 20 million wounded ranking it among the deadliest conflicts in human history. The total number of deaths includes about 10 million military personnel and about 7 million civilians.

Conflicts around the world carry on since then for what?
