Bucket water in winter

B

boarcity

have any of you noticed ,well i have otherwise id not be writing this

that just before turning to ice, bucket water turns a tad milky?

a strange phenomenon, strange but true . ripleys believe it or not

I've never been standing around long enough to notice but is probably due to ice crytals being formed as snow is white when it falls not clear

Ow I can still remember being so cold one winter I asked a customer for hot water and when she gave me the bucket I stood in it to warm my feet up /emoticons/sad.png customer must if thought I was mad but I was soo cold lol had to finish half hour later as my socks had ice crystals forming in them lol,, ow to be young and stupid again /emoticons/smile.png

I have never known my bucket water turn to ice
You possibly haven't been window cleaning in -3 then because even a bucket of boiling straight from the kettle will be ice in 30 mins

Been cleaning loadsa times when water has frozen on the glass.....just dont recall the bucket water freezing

i er...get a new bucket of water at every house...er....i thought i was slow at cleaning one house..

.now im not so sure../emoticons/biggrin.png

i have only really seen freezing problems on unheated porches most house windows give out enough heat not that you catch me out in the cold any more...

I've never had a bucket freeze on me in 23 years and i work in all temps and weather including snow and ice

I have a few times. And had it freeze on double glazing too. Ever tried blading a window and you're blading off ice? It ain't no fun /emoticons/sad.png

i would only go out if requested in those conditions...a few years ago i had one booked and it was -9....i did inside and in full sun outside went to blade the patio....nope...not a good idea tuffers..all i can say is...thankful for good old scrim....to take the frosty bit off..../emoticons/biggrin.png

And make a right mess /emoticons/biggrin.png. Time to call it a day when it freezes on the glass.

I've had that a few times

The other year it got to -13 one night

Couldn't do much next day so went to work for a mate driving a gritter round sainsburys and royal mail car parks all night instead

i usually add antifreeze if i know its going to freeze.

but this year will try out sub zero screenwash, cheaper option, iv already bought in a couple of gallons ready mixed

My mate has groundworks company based at his farm

In winter he gets the 7 gritters and 4 trailer gritters out and breaks the crust on the salt pile

If the met office say it's cold enough they all get gritted

Sometimes it is dry and cold so the spreader goes on 1 and just a show of willing round the car parks really

Still he makes around 300 - 400k on an average winter for 3 months work

Pays me 25 quid an hour tax free if i work for him

Always have seperate revenue incomes for dodgy weather or hard times is my motto

All self employed so all the better

I've not been working honest mr taxman
