Chap left a message so I got back to him then had a text shortly afterwards saying my quote was cancelled for tomorrow because another firm has already done it. Oh bugger they were quick :eek:/emoticons/biggrin.png

No, I'm not sitting around waiting for the phone to ring. A quote will be provided in about three days and a min of two weeks before I could find a space to carry out the work.

But the chaps gutters were blocked and overflowing so what would you do. Wait 2 weeks in your case or try and find someone to do it asap like the same day?

That's the thing as you never know how quick to respond to calls like that.

I thought the chap could wait a day then when I poped over when he would be home I could do it there and then for him if he agreed on my price. However the other firm jumped strate in as said they could sort it out today as there was easy access to get to the back so he did not need to be home at all.

I just had more or less the same call from someone else. When I asked when they would home for me to pop out and have a look they said sunday morning would be best. I then went on to say if it is an easy fix could to it their and then if they agreed on the price. When they asked how much for the front roughly I said should be no more than £65

I'm expecting that one to cancel too /emoticons/biggrin.png

I have a set way of doing things now as I have learn't the hard way not to do jobs without seeing them first and meet the person who is going to pay me.

you will be quicker next time

if it is summat that intrests me [such as a council house window job] it gets priority , quoted on the phone and done within 2 or 3 days if not sooner . if they sound anxious iv even turned van around and driven 25 miles just where i came from for a tuppenny-hapenny job -IF its on the estates

i spose its whatever floats your boat , and everybody is diffrent

One-off jobs like unblocking gutters I find it's always best to see the job first hand before giving a quote (fixed price)

Most if I have time I will do them their and then after the quote so saves me messing about.
