I am an ok traditional window cleaner but have stuck to bungalows as I haven't had practice on ladders, anyone take me out (will work for free of course in exchange)!

If you don't live in a house to practice on could you not practice on your friends/relations houses?

What are you finding difficult about using ladders?

Is it good to use ladders and be called slippy??lol

Ladders are easy to get the hang of..just need to practice

Or maybe just learn how to use a trad pole instead or go wfp then you can take on awkward houses too without having to risk your neck tile walking etc.

To be honest on awkward windows I could not get on with a trad pole myself and found wfp much easier. That's the dilema every window cleaner faces do you leave them out or turn to the dark side so you can earn a few more squid safely stick waggling /emoticons/biggrin.png

You could get a cheap set up like this for tops

If it's good enough for wagga.....

I disagree what wagga was saying about fibreglass poles in that vid as they are hard work and floppy so alot more energy is spent especially on awkward window on acute angles as they bend and flop about like ****.

The more ridged and lighter the wfp pole is will save you a whole lot of grief. That is why wagga uses carbon poles now as makes the job so much easier to do. The brush you use also has a big impact so again best to use the right brush for the job too.

I got a trolley and few barrels, but always need to get up a window sometimes (mostly I do trad). Just knowing where to position the ladder etc on windows and gutters etc. A friend said underneath the window and then stretch up to clean them all. Just think if I went around with someone helped them clean for free but got a feel for using ladders on different places by watching would be a lot more confident. Balconies etc. Also, someone could look at my trad technique, I am fine just could get quicker.

It's strange this, I had a lad working for me, and although he was OK up ladders, he didn't understand the principle involved. For me, it has always been second nature, you feel whether you are safe or not. You just need somewhere to get a bit of practice. Where are you?

Bournemouth, but willing to travel

Sorry, I'm in the midlands. If you can put me and the wife up for a week in June I'll come down then!!!!!
I go up to Northamptonshire a lot ( that's where I am from). If you send me your phone number give you a call when I go up there

I haven't seen that one davey, didn't realsise the back pack could be used as trolley pump, vessel and battery, seems easier than doing it all separate as a starter

Bournemouth you are near my family

Bournemouth to dorset and all in between

Lovely area

I ended up a londoner due to dads work

Sometimes it is safer to put the ladders above the window or to the side

Every job is different

Speed comes with experience

I guess on gravel, sloping away. Just don't have that confidence to know what surface is good and what isn't etc

A mate where I live went through going back over the edges after coming down (so obvious now, but at it never occured to me to do that before). The odd tip after going away and practising works wonders.
