Do you all buy new poles when your carbon sections are worn out?

This is something I've been looking at as the first pole I bought started spinning and couldn't adjust clamps anymore.

To get a bit more life from your pole once it starts spinning just put some gaffer tape around the top couple of inches of the problem section.Gardiner pole clamps are self adjusting so spinning is kept to a minimum.

That has got to depend on the condition and age of the rest of the pole.

If it was my everyday pole, ie an SLX22, I would personally I would replace it with a complete new pole. Pole technology moves on and the replacement will most probably be superior to my existing pole even when it was new.

My son in laws SLX22 hasn't got the upgraded clamps but we built up the worn section with acrylic laquer and the section has been fine for around 9 months now. Gardiners also had a video once showing how to repair that worn section with expoy resin.

If it was the top section on my not often used SLX40 then I would replace the clamps with the upgraded ones (if that was an option) and/or and replace that one section. Again, it would depend on the condition of the rest of the pole.

I was actually thinking of repairing the pole with some carbon wrap and resin. That's how I repair my carbon fishing pole, so can't see it being any different with these ones.

Now I'm earning reasonable money I would just buy another SLX if and when mine wears. You soon make your money back with good kit. I know its not so easy when you are starting out and money is tighter.
