Was you knocking on doors with the no canvassing signs some people haven't got anything else better to do so they call the old bill!

As far as I'm aware it is not an offence to knock on someomes door to ask if they want their windows cleaned. Even when the street has what looks like police notices on lamp posts.

What did they say exactly and what was your reply?

Where they real police officers or what I call the pretend ones:rolleyes:

They told me i was not aloud to knock on doors

Best print out the document and carry it with you, then if they push it, say you'll have to ask for their sergants number to check it with him as you believe it's infringing your rights.

That document does state that if you don't provide a written right to cancel document, they can refuse to pay as it's illegal to not provide it

As far as I understand it doesn't matter if it is or not as you’re are not breaking any law by just knocking doors.

What will happen though is if a curtain twitchier spots you they will call the police to find out what you are up to and probably say something like “there is a suspicious man in our street”. Then a police officer is obliged to find out more about you then just try to move you on for an easy life.

To cut curtain twicher calls to the police it would help to have your car/van sign written in big **** off letters saying "WINDOW CLEANER" and have that on your clothing to. /emoticons/biggrin.png

Also have some business cards/leaflets to hand out that also has your home telephone number and address. You will find out old folk don't like mobile numbers but do like local phone numbers and dealing with local ppl they can learn to trust.
