er...well...I er..got a phone call....I didnt remember the house and was just listening to her and then it all came back to me...

smurfy ....its our friends in the mansion....they havent forgot my number...help ...I need to do a runner...

I mean she does sound really nice on the phone....

she said...what was your day rate again...?

quick as a flash and remembering the £75 last time I said , and this was being generous..£100

oh no she said it was less than that....

I THINK she rumbled me...quick as a flash ..I said..

but that was ten till four last time and my day is nine till five now ...

oh...did you do them all last time...?

well er...yes except the building ones..

oh thats all done now..can I book you for a week on monday...

er..oh yes ..can you text me your address and I will book it in...

now come on I know there must be some lurkers around from middlewhich way or the surrounding area...

I AINT GOING NO WAY NOT ON MY LIFE...i am due to fall off my ladder and get a broken something or other so come on pm and you can have it....

just er....remember to say I am far too injured to ever clean windows again and your taking over..

for those of you who cant remember the original post I will try and find it ...but it was at least six months ago..so er...they may be dirty again...all leadeds and nope not soft leadeds all the old stuff..he doesnt want wfp either...and grandad will watch you like a hawk.

and she expects the insides done too....and also...lovely jubbly...the glass sided staircase which of course leads to the glass sided open landing set in a square from which you can look at the grand piano..

now dont scratch the private plated lamber whats it called or the merc he drives...

so how did I get dragged into that....well he just said that he had a windowcleaner who was ill and it was his wedding....now I wonder why his windowcleaner was ill and also ...why he never got better ..

he asked me what my day rate was which kinda threw me as these days I rarely do a day....

anyway I just replied well what did the other windy charge you...and he said £75 and then I said what hours did he work he said ten til four...so I just said...without looking ...another cheapie classic...I WILL MATCH THAT THEN...

so can you imagine my face when I drove through the gates...no escape...and met him on the drive and looked at miles of heavy leaded windows in the full blown sun...:eek::eek:

so er...just how do you call barr...must ask the kids..

now tomorrow...I am behind locked gates again...and I have a gutter clearout gutter fascia clean etc...but I have watched the kids grow up and the lady is lovely...hes a bit scary but...some jobs you like and some....well you will not catch me behind them gates again..

Private plate lambo on the drive of a big mansion and you say 100 squid for daily rate!! sure you ain't zipped up the back??

Daily rate needs to be a lot more for people like that

Bet she is a pennypincher too

Tell her I'll do it for £250

Well what can I say apart from "you plonker rodney" when will frank ever learn :lipssealed:

on the phone originally he did say that he was sick of all the other windowcleaners who seeing it just said £200 and I think that was just for the outside...

I am a softee but er...not that soft..dont forget..I went blind..I hadnt seen it ..I was just assuming that the other windy was charging okay..

oh come on someone...you have to see grandad cutting the lawn with his hat on and his ride on mower...

it got to four and I am afraid ...I wasnt getting out of my car no matter how much he stared at me...and I wasnt budging till I got my money either..../emoticons/biggrin.png

so I SOON learnt to get out of the sun and started around the back..I never stopped as they were knocking about but didnt seem to be watching me too much...

I was watching the time and so adjusted my pace to suit as I wanted to finish..

I did a bloody good job on the glass stairs and landing bit as he just left all the doors open..they have relatives about..but to be honest they didnt bother me too much ..I never went inside upstairs..I skipped over the pool room as you do..didnt even do that inside....the insides of course were plain glass...and then onto the front which was just slipping out of the sun...

yep ..they got the dry scrim wipe and go method as it was now heading towards four..

grandad did pull me as the owner had gone to get my money with the ...have you done that routine...oh yes I said...had I buggery....but I thought..sometimes its best to let them have one so when he said have you done them above the garage ...I said ..oh no I wll go and do them...it was a very quick wipe but you gotta let grandad believe he got me....

you could easy park up and wfp the front and back with a van mount...so could be done for a £100 outside remembering ...middlewich is kinda more renowned for its travelling community than mansions...its a bit of a one off..../emoticons/biggrin.png

come on some one will love a good haggle...

I like the grandad watching you like a hawk bit /emoticons/biggrin.png. You're right though Dave, generations all in one house and you can just sense them watching your every move.

**** em off mate

I did a similar job inside and out for £300, but I wfp outside. Four generations all in one house as @Tuffers says. I never agreed to clean interior glass, only the insides of the external glass. Grandma was not having it and was not happy when I pointed this out. They were after some free work. Now I wouldn't mind doing the odd glazed door here or there but there were sheets of glass as internal walls in one part of the house.

No chance. I had had enough by the time I walked out of there.

I had one :ninja: grandma sitting watching me in the garden last summer. I was WFP the windows and started doing the tops and she started grunting and pointing at the windows like I missed the bottoms. I turned round and said 'what's up?' Then, when I finished the bottoms I turned round and said 'ok for you!' And stuck my thumb up at her. They do my head in!

@cheapncheerful You said and I quote " he was sick of all the other windowcleaners who seeing it just said £200"

So good old cheap still goes ahead and does a ******* mansion inside & out for £75...Now when they call back you just up the price by £25 :lipssealed:

Best you phone back and tell them you are emigrating to india to become a chai-walla as the pay would be better /emoticons/biggrin.png

By all means I could send a quote over which would go something like this

Exterior window clean only - main house £295

Exterior window clean only - swiming pool sides £150

Exterior window clean only - Out buildings £95

Sub total £540

**** hole tax @ 25% £135

Total cost £675

Just couldn't do it for that unless the price of peanuts to feed the monkeys has gone down

If she can't afford to be lady of the manor she needs to get down to tesco for some more shifts to pay the windie... Unless she can read cnc's mind and pay in... Other ways... /emoticons/smile.png

I'm sure there are plenty of what I would call "token cleaners" illegal’s they could get to do it for less that they know of.

You should have made idle chit chat with the grandad while he went to the cash machine

their not going to pay you twenty pounds an hour cheap if last time they paid you 75 for the whole day now are they? Mind you they could say you have to do it in 2 hours I suppose and give you 40 squid:D
