Door knocking.

That is a good method it seems them flyers. I had very professional flyers done, very nice and well laid out, but I feel they are putting people off as think its going to be high price. I used this for my facbook advertising and I simplified my approach on there and boy has it paid off, so now I have made a nice looking flyer, but more simple but still enough to show its a well controlled business but by a person and a person whom cares about his work, i think that comes across better to people. Will let you no how that goes. I have 2000 being doen and will have them out in 3 weeks and within that will be following up 3 days later with door knocking each day, so a real hard push on all fronts within a month.
I really do think making things more simple but in a clean format is the way and also door knocking, come across totally genuine and mention your a local window cleaner you can get results. I have found customers come to me from larger van based cleaners from large business and say there no good, so I think people relate to there other local community member better, rather than the big business or pro looking set up thats beyond pro and is about £££ - its then after you need to have a good set up in terms of delivery of service, make that spot on from clarity of when and how you will perform to the actual performance of cleaning your on a winner if done well.
@Scottie could you put pics up of the pro 1's that was unsuccessful and then the homemade 1's please. I'm just about to get my van sign written clothes signed business cards made up and flyers done! your input would be a great help as money is tight cheers

This is my home made flyer, this has got me infinitely more work than glossy pro flyers (tried two types and got nowhere with them).

Help yourself mate, if it helps you're more than welcome, I have had some great hits off these, I target specific areas, best hit was 7 off 100 flyers.

Lowest was 1 off 100, but turns out off the one that the area is sewn up by another windy, but apparently he is a bit of an **** hole (her words not mine /emoticons/tongue.png )

What I then do is put an invoice through as normal along with a introduction letter telling them all about our service, what other services we offer, how they can get in touch if they have any problems etc etc etc.

Nice leaflet.

I know we always joke that there is a spelling mistake, but I think you have forgotten the 'R' on You/r.

On the title line it says

Are you windows dirty? I assume it should say, Are your windows dirty?

I had a shite evenings canvassing

Hour and a half and only got 33 quid of work

Then checked time on phone and saw my niece had tagged me in a post looking for a window cleaner who as she said "does it properly not poles" lol for her mum who has just moved in to a 4 bed detached and wants all pvc + gutters + windows done then monthly window clean

KERCHING

Not telling you what i quoted but we are both happy and her daughter said i will have to bin my guy who just " squirts the windows" and get you to do mine (4 bed townhouse)

Sounds like the local cowboy has been doing her windows also

Daveyboy, let me try to put this a delicately as I can without starting a brawl!

I get pissy with those that say I went canvassing for an hour and only got £30 of work. Does my nut in!

Assuming (the mother of all f*** ups) that is £30 of repeat cleans you are looking at an annual pay raise today of £360 - if you're a 4 weekly cleaner that's £390 per year.

Then all the spin offs, the neighbors that approach and say 'cooey, could you add me on duckie?) the odd gutter clean or conservatory on top sooner or later it's real money!

I run a round that turns over just shy of £80'000 pre year (honest tax man, not a penny more) and that was all built up from £30 of canvassing here, £20 of canvassing there.

As I have said before, if you build it they will come.

I don't knock doors anymore but when I did this was my pitch..

Hello there, sorry to disturb you, (then I step a touch closer) I was just doing a quote for your neighbor across the street (point to some random house) and I notice you dont seem to have a regular window cleaner. I do a lot of the windows around here and I come by on the first Monday of every month, It's £1000'000000 (adjust price to suit) for the windows frames sills and doors top and bottom front and back, can I add you on to my round please?

I always got about 50% of the doors I knocked. I even knocked the really shiny ones too just for good measure and also to get a feel as to their opinion of the competition in the area.

Off to the Gym now, didn't go up the ladder enough today! /emoticons/tongue.png

Green you will get used to my sarcasm soon

i think everyone else here has

I am happy with tonights effort as i always am when i get work

Was more the fact i was knocking doors for an hour and a half then got more from a facebook link which is why i said it was shite

I am gratefull for all the work i get and would never actually moan about extra income when all i have done is knock a few doors on my doorstep and then drive round and quote someone a mile away

You are welcome, I didn't want you to be putting it through doors unaware.

£30 is very good daveyboy. owts good imo lol

I was working on a council estate for the first time this morning from a facebook enquiry. bloe over road came out to ask me (1st walk up) i must admit i went cheap £8 but i must have missed a trick before because ive never thought to bother with council estates (i grew up on one no snobbery) but they are all the semi detached type 3-4 flat windows front and back, 10-15min jobs. I think they will be worth canvassing.

Anyway ive ordered some leaflets not far off those that diwrnach posted, so i will have a crack with them.

Canvassed for half an hour tonight, got 1 customer, very slow progress for me but progress all the same.

A job is a job AdamBetter than no job
Indeed, I have always worked for myself and always found a way to bring the cash in, drugs baron, male escort, porn star, whatever it takes!

Though I did have a forced 6 months of not earning when I had a heart attack.....

Yeah not bad, was 10 years ago, still a bit fooked, could claim the sick if I was that way inclined, but screw that, I actually just got banned from weight lifting a couple of months ago as the doctor nearly fell off her chair when I told her I was squatting 150kg, but after LOTS of tests been given the all clear on strict instructions to take it slowly and try not to 1 rep max if I can help it /emoticons/biggrin.png
