Poling without leaving drag marks

I've just started using my Mr longarm pro curve that I was given, now realise how good it could be but I'm just finding as I pull down I'm leaving drag marks, I do everything you should like taping the blade, cutting in at the top etc but want to know how else I can eliminate these lines as I think this pole could help my business no end

Yh i mean I've been a window cleaner for a few years and some windows are fine poling but it's just some where I pull down from the top and drags water down, so annoying sometimes

I find is much easier with my unger ninja due to the extra angle on the head, it seems to be better on the glass. I drag/tap a few times on every pull though.

I find two things key here (and this is my findings not the law) Speed and pressure.

Most newishbees on the pole try to go too fast and try to keep the squeegee pressed on the glass a bit too hard. (IMO)

I think a good one to watch is Polz N Blades on You tube, His poling is methodical, and steady, not hurried at all, the old addage of more haste less speed rings true here I think.

Secondly stop trying to press the squeegee on the glass nice an firm, just let it rest and do what it does best.

These are observations I have made over the years training new window cleaners perhaps these tips will help you.

Another key fact to note when you see the yanks on the poles at 10000 mph is every pane of glass they are on is 20 ft high and 30 ft wide, not small residential windows like we get here.

Hope this helps

Been practicing today again, most of the time is fine, just hate those lines on the top, yh it is because we have smaller windows. That does help thanks think sometimes I try and do it too quickly and on the long run it takes longer when you have lots more detailing to do

i would try a different rubber brand . Some makes stutter especially hard rubbers . moerman rubber soft works good for pole use as it hugs the glass

I find cutting it at the side helps eliminatr pretty much all lines

Instead of going from the top right first for example start on the left a bit lower and stand to the right side a bit so you can get it a bit diagonal and cut in to the top right and pull down then do the same again from the same position but go right up into the top left corner and pull down

It also saves leaving water on the top edge

A bit like polz does it with a wag

davey a video sounds like gd idea

Just out of interest how do you clean the frames and sills decently when poling traditionally?
i scrub the frames and sill first [swivel Tbar] then scrub glass

squeegee glass and then detail the top line with scrim on pole , then move pole tip with scrim onto frame and wipe frames and sill is the finishing move

I know what i am doing sunday now lol

It's all about moving your feet..you can't pole well if you stand still

Similar principle to this with a wag but i use a 30° swiveloc so i can twist it a bit to be able to cut in but you do have to move around a bit to achieve a good job

The higher you got the more walking you do

Good video but

Most of these vids are on wooden windows which are the easiest to do.

Also some windows you can't pull right down to the bottom of the window as the squeegee handle hits the bottom before the rubber gets to the bottom of the window. Especially top ones

Trad on pole got it limit.

I tried trad on pole with a wagtail and it leave dry detail and dry mark after I drag it. The frames and sills dont get cleaned properly either.

Going. up the ladder or doing it by wfp you will get the job done properly.

I only use a pole for inaccessible windows and with 0° for high ground floor and over obstructions

With the pole and both swivelocs i can clean pretty much everything
