Chris is fun as is Polz and a few others, however, with all the 'modding' and 'This is the only way' and so on it detracts from the simple business of window cleaning.

Now don't think I am trying to diss anyone on Youtube or elsewhere but there in not much if you truly break it down on youtube about running a business from the ground up.

You know what I am saying. Perhaps it's time one of us posted a complete 'tutorial / how to' on how they built their business from the ground up.

Bought a bucket, mop and squeegee (already had a ladder), practised on my own house until I was confident, printed a load of flyers and made a facebook page, advertised on facebook and put loads of flyers out.

Made a note of customers and frequency in a big diary.

Cleaned windows and collected money!

There ya go /emoticons/tongue.png

This is such a wonderful idea just can't wait for a tutorial like this.

It really is a very simple business though, I did vending before this and that was simple as well, but still needed to sort out stock rotation in the machines etc which added a bit of complexity but not much.

I've trained so many people during my time working as a manager but I was getting paid regardless ,it will slow you down in a big way so it'll be costing you money, like already said you don't know this guy so are you prepared to lose cash for a stranger ???? Family or friend is a total different matter but I'd never lose money for a stranger myself

There out there already if you just look m8, in fact there everywhere nowadays

I would help the regular guys on here..for example if one of the purely wfp guys had never tradded or taking someone like adamangler out canvassing when he was feeling nervous about it but i would know i was taking someone out who wanted to learn and had a basic idea of the job

I joined this forum more to help people than anything else as 24 years is quite a lot of experience and tips to possibly help someone else with

But people who just want everything on a plate would have to pay their way to be out with me all day as I won't lose money

Totally agree with everything said there m8

I was fanning trad within 10 minutes of doing my first ever job

Was shown "this is how you squeegee " and told to get on with it and by the afternoon i was fanning left and right handed to avoid moving ladders so much and that was my training

My son picked it up straight away too

But i know others could be an inconvenience out with me all day as not everyone can pick it up quickly

Just like you m8 nailed it like a pro in a day, I was left to do a large sainsbury on my own with only 2 mins learning as the manager had so many cleaners ill this day he just left me , for some it's easy but I've had lads I've had to sack after a month on the job

Same as anything you either have an aptitude for it or you don't

It's not 100% black and white as i know people i have worked with who took s few days to get it

I learnt 0° swiveloc on a pole technique by seeing it once and copying it

To be honest it's simple in my eyes .

If you have a functioning normal brain you can window clean

If your a bit simple and a bit of a clumps then forget it

But some people do struggle with manual things same as some struggle with mental things

Agree but it's not rocket science , I once said to a newbie while working in a office block "can you get some water in your bucket" this was his third day on the job so the daft sod filled this bucket to the brim and it was a rectangle 18ltr big bucket , by the time he walked back to me the office floor was soaking and lots of people were mopping water from paperwork, some folk are just thick , I once had to sack a woman as she didn't know how to plug a hoover in

I agree ladder sense takes a while but i grew up on roofs and scaffolding so am used to it so was only the squeegee to worry about learning

a memorable milestone
True ill never forget this toothless one eyed battle axe standing there with this plug looking very very confused lol

I did the hard jod of plugging it in , I allowed her to finish her 2 hour trial then had the hard job of letting her go after, I had around 35-40 part time women I had to manage and believe me they tested my sodding patience every bloody day /emoticons/smile.png

thats intresting- was it a good earner? [generally speaking] / i ask because i started a domestic cleaning biz as a favour for an aquaintance but she let me down 2 months in, i sensed it COULD have been a good earning business to be in
