Anyone on here have a step by step guide to lingo when you go door knocking?

What's the things you say to showcase your company against other windies & what do you avoid mentioning?

What works?

Hi & welcome to the forum

To be honest I'm far to lazy now to be knocking doors

Knock door and ask do you need a window cleaner

Simples

Then just chat

I sometimes turn no's into yeses just being myself

Hi my names luc nice to meet you I am the local window cleaner, I would like to give you a price to have not only your windows cleaned but also the plastic frames, doors and sills.

It's worked for me. Nice and simple and to the point.

Knock door -

"Hello, sorry to bother you, just wondering if you have a window cleaner?"

- no

"Would you like one ? (In a jokey tone and cheeky smile)

- no

"Ok no probs, can I give you this leaflet of other services I offer"

Hand it to them saying about gutters connys pressure watching etc. sometimes they may be interested in other stuff which will get you a foot into the door and even a job, an usual get them as a customer for windows too ;-)

If they say yes to wanting windows done arrange date and go round and do them, after you done the job and collecting payment, that's when you give the above other services pitch. Don't do it on same day as they agree to windows as seems too pushy ;-)

Hope this helps, works for me

I did a job not so long ago and forgot to give them my services list. 2 weeks later I drove past and a compeditor of mine is cleaning their driveway.... ******** I thought to myself as never got to quote it let alone do it for them properly /emoticons/biggrin.png

I'm reasonably happy with the size of my round and my wife goes ballistic if I tell her I have new customers but when I get approached or called I invariably end up with a new customer. I then door knock the neighbours (especially if the windows aren't being cleaned) and tell them "Sorry to trouble you, I've just started window cleaning for your neighbour, would you like to have your windows cleaned as well"? If I get a yes I explain how I clean, agree a frequency, take their details so I can call the day before the clean, etc.

I have a full time firefighting job (42 hours a week) I'm on call as a retained firefighter (80 hours a week) and we only have one car. All the time I'm out doing either job or window cleaning she is stuck with no transport. She wants me to jack the window cleaning in but I love it, hopefully this situation will be resolved when the new MX5 comes on sale in the summer and she will have a smile on her face.

i see . think id be tempted to print out a fake bailiff letter, leave it for her to see , how youre in debt up to your eyeballs- high stakes dominos down at the station was your downfall - she will likely encourage your job efforts from then on
