Just wondering after asking a few people about domestic gutter clearing service.

people I spoke to are assuming I will clean their gutters and fascias,at the same time I clear them.

but I you only intend clearing them with a vac and ladder setup. cleaning them looks like problems and hassle to me more equipment etc.

How would I best write a flyer for the clearing and not cleaning service to save any confusion

can it be done,or is cleaning part of clearing period.

has anyone got any gutter cleaning flyers I could look at.

cheers.

They are seperate jobs mate and i have never been expected to do both when clearing a gutter

Only when asked to clean inside and out of gutters

Agree with daveyboy it is 2 seperate jobs

If I clean gutters on a domestic house i just get use a ladder go up take end caps of them brush the **** along into a bucket perfectly clean

I'm not sold on them gutter vacs at all just look like a expense not needed

If you do agree to clean plastics and fascias make sure you price right as they can be hard work and take a lot longer than cleaning gutters out

What I usually do is a patch test go up with couple cloths pvc cleaner and see how easy they come up before quoting

When clearing out wet gutters you often get horrible dark brown/black drips down the front of the gutters. I wipe that off as it just looks messy, but anything like algae that was on before will stay unless they specify (and therefor pay) that they want them cleaned.

You would simply clearly advertise them as two separate services. Then on any quote request either by phone, email, text or in person clarify with the customer what exactly they want doing.

After saying that some cleaners may lose jobs because they don't do one or the other or both but it's down to the individual what services they want to offer.

Thats a clever thing to do, taking the end caps of and just slide all the mess to the ends into a bucket, genius:thumbsup:

That also works the same way if you take the downpipe bend apart when it's blocked and the gutter run is full of water. Just don't be underneath it when it goes or you will get rather wet with stinking water and crud.

Been there, done that with an audience in the house too

Just a word or caution. You need to be careful taking gutters apart. The clips get very brittle and easily snap. I carry the odd spare in my gutter bucket, but there are so many styles and sizes that you could end up ruining a days work driving around trying to find a new part. Also, any dirt that gets on the rubber seals can stop it sealing properly, possibly causing a leak the next time it rains. Taking apart downpipes is ok, because they don't usually have the rubber seals (on the downward portion).

I use the phrase clearing and unblocking on my flyers

I've only recently started offering the cleaning side but I enjoy doing it

Good satisfaction bringing them back to life

If you had booked a gutter and spouting clearout, sight unseen, and turned up and the roof valleys were crammed full of pine needles - we're talking 6 or 7 long valleys - would you included that for no extra charge? I normally would without even thinking about it but the actual job was a 4 hour plus pain, not to mention I had to cart away huge bags of debris that was supposed to go in their bin but that was already full. I'm inclined to think that roof valleys aren't part of the guttering even though they obviously connect to it. This was one of those discounted daily deals for what it's worth!

Keen to hear what you guys think.

There is no point clearing the guttering when the roof valleys are badly blocked as will simply block the guttering and downspouts causing the guttering to overflow again. Many roof valleys also have blown/loose mortar filllets in the roof valleys that I will point out to the customer and remove too at an extra charge.

It starts to get scary and down right dangurous when trying to clear roof valleys, That is why I use the ladder system and kit that I do /emoticons/wink.png
