Franked foot

WCF

Help Support WCF:

Dads do these things to save their children mate. I slipped carrying one of ours, went right down the stairs but only suffered bruising. I went down on my back, tucked everything in close and became a sledge. I was black and blue and sore for a short time but no breaks. No injury to my daughter either.

Get well soon mate.

Cheers for tips, yes bought a domain a month ago but didn't find time for it, certainly do now!

Thanks sp. I took note and edited my posts of slang swearing, incase it offended anyone. Glad I'm not the only hero stair sledge ;-)

View attachment 4048 That's it now. Got a boot to wear when out the house. Bulge seems to have gone, just bruising left and a bit swollen in general. I'm putting full weight through the heel and some weight through the top right bit by the big toe/ball, it's pain to to weight or bend it anywhere near the left. It's nowhere near as bad as it could be.

i wish you a speedy recovery jim. i can imagine its very painful

what good do those special boots do? they always look heavy like as if youre going skiing whats the idea of the clumsy as **** boot ?

To be honest, in general there's no pain. I took paracetamol the first night as I anticipated pain in the night that might disrupt my sleep, but no pain. Only pain when I put weight through that one area or ive moved it a way I shouldnt.

The boot is heavy and meant to take the place of a cast. I find it makes my foot ache/mild pain so I'm wearing it as a minimum. I think if the bone was displaced it might be more important as a support, but for me it's just to stop it being dinged and as I can't get a shoe on.

somewhere i read/heard that if you lash a length of 2x2 to your calf you can walk with no pain as the 2x2 works as a prop .

I'd be reluctant to use a splint like that cause if it gave way I'd be up the creek again. Prob a good survival situation tip

Wish you a speedy recovery Jimroot, cant think of anything worse, on the other hand, canvassing on crutches, IMO, might not be easy, but potential customers would think your very determined person & would prob take you on.

I might have a go when I've got a better idea of when I'll be ready. I imagine hefting the 20L barrels, the 25kg ladder, and the 30kg vac are going to be the hardest on the bone, but maybe also just being on it for hours

Certainly a thing like this makes you think. Should have saved a stash of money, should have wore steel toe boots around the house, should have bought a stair lift ;-)

Sorry to hear about the accident @Jimroot - as you said, could have been a lot worse though! Get well soon /emoticons/smile.png

Sorry to hear about your fall, really makes me think about getting personal accident and loss of earnings insurance, I did email companies, but maybe they dont cover window cleaners?
Take care and all the best in your recovery:thumbsup:
That's odd @windowsurfer, I'd have thought window cleaning is one of the top trades for personal accident cover? Can't speak for other companies' policies, but this is the exact sort of situation personal accident cover is intended for - a couple hundred pound a week for the entirety of the time you're unable to work, just to keep you ticking over.
