I've attached some before and after photos here.

Went round to quote the windows, I said £20 which I thought was fair. However, the customer wanted her fascia doing as well which you can see was filthy, complete curveball because I didn't have a clue how to price it so I somehow come up with (don't laugh too hard) £18 lol.

Didn't anticipate how long it would take or how much there was at all. Trying to do it on a pole was difficult above the conservatory. Didn't have to do the conservatory roof. Also I couldn't clean the ledge of the window very well with just a pole so think id need to get inside to do that. Think they came up as nice as they could without a restoration.

Anyway s**t money for a bank holiday considering there's two of us but it's only on of two days off I have at the moment so not too upset as I'm being paid to train really. Just hope she's happy with it! View attachment 4106

i run my quotes on stuff like tht as i judge per hour standard semi upvc clean is around 60 -80 depending on how bad it is as takes around 2 hours

keep an eye on your ladder safety as its sore if you fall

talking from experience :gush:

Why is everyone so polite on this forum? What the guy is doing there is madness - perfect photo for the health and safety guys if ever I saw one.

You need bigger cardboard boxes than that to land on!

Because we are?

Myself I was referring to the finished results not methods used and was waiting for someone like you to jump in. After all he did say it's a learning curve to start with and I'm sure he is aware after doing that one the H&S issues that arouse.

Because we are the civillised forum..ciu is for the numptys who like to slate each other all day

There were 2 of them and i daresay they were safe with the ladders with footing etc and we've all done a bit of roof walking if we're honest about it

Personally i would use my ankalad and either microlite or mini standoff but used to do it that way

Smurf that mini standoff i have is perfect for these jobs

It will sit on that roof easy and can usebit easier than the microlite

I try to use that whenever i can as itnlives on my ladders

We didn't walk on the roof anyway used to a harris pole to do best job I could but said would need access to inside to do the ledge properly because it would have been too dangerous. Cheers, Dave yeah I could do with them ladders but pricey aren't they..

Never used a mini microlight myself but might see if I can pick one up cheap local and give it a go

Best keep an eye out on fleebay, gumtree etc as you can pick up good kit like the ankalad and microlite standoff as new sometimes very cheap.

Especially when i am doing some of the roads near me..i have to go through the house to the back

I get my old diy rated 3 section 7 rung out

It has the wider bar at the bottom like bps ladders and can stand that up and still walk it through a house with the mini standoff on it..i never do windows without it on as i don't rest on sills then

Don't like the small ladder as is not trade but gets used a couple of times a day so not much wear on them

@daveyboy1 how would you use the standoff to do the window above the conservatory? It's about 7ft deep to the above windows so would be a dodgy angle for the ladder

You can't safely is the answer...

What you can do is use the ladder with the standoff either as a fulcrum to take the weight off the pole and steady it or get closer to the window by getting on the ladder to pole it instead
