What's the quickest way to remove paint splatter from glass?

That's the way I normally would do it but was wondering if there was a quicker way as I have a job to do Monday with white paint splatters on about 40 separate dg units all on ground floor level.

I was thinking maybe to use a steamer to soften up the paint splatter then scrap if off rather than using solvents as most dg units are very bad. It looks like whoever painted the render walls white on the bungalow must have used a sprayer as it's bloody everywhere

I did a house that had overspray on from the neighbours who had there house sprayed bloody everywhere I used loads of soapy water usually mop all glass I'm doin new blade every window flat to glass usually 5 min a pain

Don't use them bloody useless unger scrapers

Smurf I find the paint comes off easier when hard when use solvent which I hate it makes it smudge over the glass makes the paint almost wet

I give the glass a thorough scrub and squeegee off then give a good soaping and scrape whole window while wet

Soap and squeegee again job done

Takes a couple of minutes

the 6 inch ninja scraper has a really nice grip . if you have a lot of scraping to do you can change the angle on it,save your wrist getting tiredView attachment 4314

they come fitted with a carbon steel blade which is the sharpest you can get though you can buy stainless blades they arent as sharp

View attachment 4315 another 6 incher with a useful comfy grip is the triumph mk3 , although you cannot change the angle , i like this scraper equally as well as the ninja 6 incher

its possibly better made than the ninja [the blade slide certainly is] altho its a close ran thing i think id pick the ninja if i had a long job to do

Cowboys using paint sprayers should be shot.

Funny you mention that as I could only find my silly small unger scraper and new pack of 100 blades so I just popped out to screwfix as we don't have a good trad supplier near me to get a good 6 incher in time for the job tomorrow.

Anyhow I got a couple of these instead fitted with a carbon blade

Plus some packs of blades which happen to be carbon blades too /emoticons/smile.png

To be honest for how cheap they are I was quite impressed as the blade is retractable and also very easy to change the blades. Even though it's made of plastic has a good rubber type handle so nice to grip.

a pallet of house bricks smurf apply one to each window.. i normaly use a scraper i was thinking white sprit but then that might just make it smear. You may find it will come off easier left hard and scrape

yeh only one way I know and its slow and tedious scrapy scrapy soapy soapy...reminds me of my contract work when I first got it...apparently the last windy just left it on but it took me an extra half day to scrape it all clean...I am NOT going to be amused if them bloody decorators turn up again...

of course I bet you wont be charging extra mr smurf...

plenty of wrist action is the way to go:whistle:

I've decided I'm going to take my steamer aswell and do a little trial to see if that helps quicken the job up. I've used it with great success indoors on paint splatter on various types of glass in the past at home so I know it works but the true test would be to see if it makes that outside job quicker to do or not.

If it starts to rain then maybe not as I don't want me beared to stand up on end /emoticons/biggrin.png

Will do

Then after that job I have to go look at a pub as the chap wants the guttering cleared as has been chasing me up plus windows cleaned on a regular basis. I did mention I will pop over after the builders clean I have to do so will be later today. His reply was I'm in the building trade so might have loads of work for you. I thought oh great that is just what I need more bloody builders cleans

If a house, hotel .....whatever is are having the builders in I make a point of mentioning to the customer to keep an eye on paint splatters on windows. I say that I can come in after if the builders don't clean up after themselves.......9 times out of 10 the windows are left in great condition as that conversation has taken place between them.

stay outside and get the gutters done first, and dont go via the bar as i assume you want to get the job started and finished on the same day.

Well that job took four ******* hours to do including the conservatory sides. However the customer was over the moon with the results so I was given a nice tip too. Also she now want me to clean the windows regular and on her bungalow and the daughter want her house windows cleaned regular too.

I went to that pub afterwards and conducted a full gutter survey as you do. Turns out the chap is a property developer and owns loads of commercial properties in the area that he rents out. Also builds new domestic properties so after our chat wants me to look after all his portfolio including his own house.

It just so happens the chap had a cheaper quote for that pub job but still wanted me to do the work for some strange reason. I think he was impressed with me gopro as I showed him the issues why the guttering was overflowing unlike the other guy that just gave him a price. Also the kit in me van opposed to the other guy that said he will just use a set of ladders.

Just goes to show people don't go for the cheapest quote but still I bet the other guy was gutted that he did not get that job as would have lead on to loads more work and a regular job for that one.

It's probably the best way smurfy, p'haps charge a bit more. Sometimes I charge a set hourly rate and will cover.

I was working for someone a few years ago, and had to clean this:

Now, bear in mind I had no pole, he has us cleaning them with ladders. They might look ok from here, but you can barely even get a footing on those roofs.

Staggeringly, he still has people walking on those ******* roofs! Bent double, literally cleaning stuff that's effectively on the floor, stood on your toes for like 20 minutes cleaning complete utter paint splatter off those......with an unger miniature scraper!
