Lying a filter flat

Hi,

I'm currently thinking of getting a carbon/sediment filter 20" from gardiner and I was wondering will this make my DI resin last longer if so can lay it flat? Haven't got much room to play with?

So assuming you're di only, it might or not make a difference, there wasn't a definitive answer I could find, no experiments with figures to show it would make a difference.

Basically it won't lower your TDS. However it will (supposed to) remove chlorine and couple other stuff from the water, which might damage your resin.

Now the problem is, we don't know what's in our tap water, you'd need to do a lab test on it. You might have low amounts of chlorine/chloramine.

So to sum it up: if you have ~£40 to spend (£20 housing, £20 gac filter), it can't hurt i guess, although looking at your setup I'd probably consider getting another DI vessel and use them as twin DIs.

Funny thing is americans use di only in hard water areas too, but they have companies that do resin recharging - I wish there were places like that here in the UK.

I agree with @heyoh you should ideally have twin di tanks rather than just using one on a di only fill system.

May I ask what is your tap water tds ppm?

It will not hurt to add a 10" sedement filter/housing and a 10" fiberdyn filter and housing to go before the twin di's either.

Interesting video that Smurf as it contradicts the information that there is no need for a sediment when using that filter !

If your ppm is lower than 050 pmm it will not make your resin last and longer. Chlorine is just a fraction ppm in your water. And no you cannot lay a di vessel flat.

I used to have 2 di on my system grrr took one off when re designed it. Maybe il add just a small one.

So no filter can be layed down?....think I need a bigger van.

Will add a small one the weekend...is there any clamps out there to clamp a filter to your di vessel?
