Maybe smurf but i won't be using it a lotI love my trad
I said the same thing Dave,

Then within a few months I started to realise I was doing most houses wfp, probably now 70/30 split wfp to trad now,

It's just so much easier mate, so much faster as well, literally like night and day on some houses.

Now I just can't face getting the ladders off the van etc etc,

It's so easy to pull a hose out and crack on..

That why you should get a decent size van first off @Daveyboy as you will soon find out you will need a decent size wfp van system. Buy once as they say /emoticons/wink.png

I have mixed feelings about it

I have been using my pole for 90% of my work and have a wagtail on order and am modding it like wagga/polzn bladz

With that i can do 99% of my work without wfp

I only want it for a couple of windows on my round and the fascia and gutter cleans i get

No need to go mental with a van mount as i work quick enough as it is

I can get pure from a guy in hatfield for £1 for 25l

Wouldn't use more than that in a couple of days as fascia jobs would be done with tap water

If i can work as fast as wagga or Bob with a pole why would i need the hassle of makimg pure etc to do the job slower

Going wfp with a decent size van mount can open up a whole new revenue stream for you. For example just look at the sort of jobs @Neil gets to do now. Bearing in mind Neil was trad only for years before going wfp.

I agree, it massively opened up doors for my round, jobs came in that I simply couldn't do without a wfp...

I was the same Dave, but trust me wfp will do a better job and faster than a trad pole setup

I very rarely go see a house to quote, I just get an amount of windows, doors, conny and price it accordingly with room for quoting error ie. £20-25. It works well for me and saves me loads of time.

I can see where it can get me different jobs but you obviously haven't seen me in action lol

Ordered new wag slimline for a pole tool so watch out for the new vids of me at superspeed polz n wagga stylee

Look forward to it,

But honestly mate, wfp will do a better job, no smears or detailing, plus it'll be easier work...

Appreciate you like your trad, but I was the same, used to swear by trad till I went wfp

I will eventually be hybrid just to make things easier

Any opportunities for new work are welcome

I don't understand the whole wfp vs trad argument that some go on and on about as they both work and i can see advantages to both and both are useful tools to have under your belt

My only worry is guys who have never done it trad

I think everyone should have basic trad tools in case wfp breaks down

I also do pics and google maps. I can't imagine what it was like when @Smurf started up. Probably had to climb on a pterodactyl and fly over the house.:hehehe:

Yeah I agree, a mixture of the two is essential in this day and age,

I don't like hearing about Windys that can't trad, just seems so wrong!

I probably now do 70% wfp and 30% trad...

Well back then there wasn't any windows tolish...

...Smurf used to chisel and shape the rock doors for his fellow cavemen, he was paid in meat.

Jake i have no problem with someone who is 100% wfp

Problem is if it goes tits up what is your back up if no trad skills or tools

Precisely my point mate, I think it should be something that all window cleaners master, I mean what happens if someone asks for the insides to be done!

You find most wfp cleaners have two of everything as a basic setup but more for the ones that have been at it for along time.

I've been stuck twice and called up a couple of local windy friends and I was up and running within an hour.

Well he'd use a squeegee if he can, but the guys that never learnt trad must be stuffed

like I said before there are pro's & con's for both methods but at the end it's an extra string to your bow if you can offer the most suitable method for the job. Die hard trad only guy's are living in the past if you ask me...now come to think of it where did I put me shammy /emoticons/biggrin.png

i use google maps, if i cant see it on there i just chuck out an average price and do it quickly .

I never learnt trad to start with, and imo you dont really need it t all unless you want to do insides or in emergency, its usefull to have as its quite enjoyable for a change, i now have trad gear but i only use it on one shop, as for insides done them once, wouldnt do them again, i cleaned them fine, but they take longer than outside, more stuff to break and i dont like walking round peoples homes, prefer to pull up, reel out slap dash , note thru and gone.

No collecting except the odd one that local, and no quoting in person, either google maps or guess based on their description, if its a bigger job i.e a conservatory clean i ask for pics.

guessing can work both ways so it evens out, i do one recently, a house at £23 based on her description, in reality i would have done it for £12-£14 if id have seen it first, 5 bed detached with a large orangery sounds massive via email. In reality in was 4 front windows on front plus door, 1 small on side, 2 top windows at back 2 small velux and 2 patio doors, takes 15 mins.

But theres always that 3 bed semi youve quoted £12 that has 5 sides leaded bays, a porch, a conny and hydrophobic to bring you back down to earth.
