Really not happy with the wagtail! Got delivered today and I just can't get used to it, it's jumping around the glass, missing bits, can't get a perfect window at all!!!

With my liquidators I'm doing no detailing at all and it's easy work,

I'm finding the wagtail is aching my wrist, and just isn't doing a nice job at all?

Is it just because I need to get used to it?

It's so jumpy, even after changing the rubber,

I've also dog eared it and still getting loads of detailing...

Really frustrating!!

you have to hold handle between finger and thumb, similar to you hold a pen . if you hold it like its a bike handgrip thats wrong & you will hurt your wrist.

holding it the correct way the tool does the work, not your wrist

Ok I'll give it a go Jonny,

Still seems like it won't be the most accurate of tools...?

HMAN has a vid on here heating the handle and changing the angle might help

Keep practising without the pad for a few days. Use it as you would a normal squeegee i.e. with separate scrubber. The other thing is make sure there is no 'slop' at the pivot. tighten/loosen bolt so that it swivels freely but without any movement between handle and disc. Also initially because you're using light grip as boarcity described work on wrist and forearm rotation as opposed to activating the whole arm as you would for a normal fixed squeegee. Red Razor in Wag Channels work superbly. I also pinch in the back of the channel to hold the rubber tight (same effect as the Ettore end clips).

theres a learning curve, holding it like a pen and rotating the pen in thumb n forefinger to make it wag - the natural way is to grip it like a regular squeegee handle but this wont work cos your wrist ends up fighting the wagtail pivot

.Some folk get it on first day , FIRST 10 MINUTES [galling to see] ,some take months to get it to wag.

i took a full 6 months! See at first i was trying too hard to get it working ,but couldnt get it ,the Klutz phenomenon, so i gave up and just did straight pulls with it

then one day i was goin about my work mind on something else and on big glass i suddenly i got it, the wag was wagging to the touch---this was the lightbulb moment for me !

Yeah perhaps it'll take some time, I actually find its aching my wrist at the moment, and jumping on the glass a lot,

I'll stick with it, thanks for the advice everyone

It took me a while to bite the bullet, but the first thing I do with any new Wagtail is break out the heat gun and do Herman's 20° mod...and yes it does give relief in the wrist because you can keep the wrist/hand line straight.

I would like to add that it is also a good idea to use the Wag as an applicator only for a while, and use a separate squeegee with it. This will give you the opportunity to get the 'feel' of it. Patience is the order of the day!!

to tell you the truth the only windows a wagtail is good for is big sheets of glass high up which you need to squeegee in one go without the window drying up. otherwise its just a waste of energy on the small windows and i agree its bad for your wrist

Ironic when you hear willie wagtail going on about how much better it is for your wrist!

But I find it's worse for the wrist, because you have to rotate your wrist more which is actually bad for you...

Good for pole work, but not gonna be my first choice for standard window cleaning

Used my wagtail on large high windows on a orangery, yes an orangery:rofl: the other day. Windows were just that bit too high to reach from my step, the wagtail has got that bit extra reach, useful tool, but i just try it out now and then.

if you use Wagtail correctly it shouldnt make your wrist ache . correct way is hold handle grip similar to holding a pen, between thumb n forefinger then rotate handle as if rolling the pen -this makes the pivot fan/wag . your wrist should not be moving much if at all

I still think the best squeegee out is my modded 10 inch unger with unger soft rubber. I drop it I scrape it & it keeps going & going. I use it more then the liquidator which I personally think was a bit overrated but still a good tool.

That's how I'm holding boar, but still aches the wrist...

Also I find it a slower tool to use on normal windows because you need to be more accurate and can't rush the window with it..

This was funny to see but he got use to it in the end. Bless him /emoticons/biggrin.png
