Hi all,

So after about 4 leaflet designs so far none of them have exactly reeled them in so to speak, although not distributed in huge numbers yet mind but they have gone in areas I thought would produce some decent business which i was hopefully going to use as a gauge to my return on the numbers posted.

It got me thinking a little along with my leafelt poster chap who I use along with myself when I am not working. Has anybody used certain marketing techniques such as giving a percentage off by saving this leaflet or offering a "free small gift" on taking up the services, or perhaps a half price 6th clean and a free 12th clean? I dunno just some ideas we passed to each other last week while chatting, there needs to be something on that leaflet so the customer has to save it and catches there attention.

One thing I dont want to do is get f***** over on the first cleans so wasn't sure how to offer a percentage off with this leaflet technique, the free gift idea seemed a reasonable one however it must be cheap and something pretty unique, have a few ideas on that but going see what you guys think and perhaps any other ideas you have?

To date the best leaflets I have used for getting business are a re-design of the ones @Green posted up where you write the price on and post it, but after using these I soon kicked myself to the amount of times I got screwed by them having loads more windows at the back and other things that made quoting as you walk down the drive a dangeous game of under quoting, I have managed to get a few to pay a bit more after stating they have more windows at the back that I imagined etc, which so far has been ok.

I'll be honest mate, 99.8% of people throw all leaflets straight in the bin, nothing you write in there will make them read it and keep it, people get so so much junk mail these days, there just isn't really any point,

Canvassing face to face is the key, it works,

By all means give leaflets/business cards face to face, but without knocking on he door in person and a customer seeing you and talking to you, there very very unlikely to read your leaflet and act on it...

It'll just get chucked in the bin

1 hour of canvassing will yield far more results than 1000 leaflets - I'm speaking firm expierence having hilt my round up from canvassing...

Some statistics are suggesting that you'll only get a 0.8% return on an average of 1000 leaflets dropped.

Worth it? Nah!

I use leaflets but only during times people are out or neighbours of new job which i then write something on like cleaned number 22 let me know if you need yours doing

Yeah I do that, but thays totally different to mass leaflet drops...

I do drop whole streets sometimes if it is a promising area and i have a bit of time on my hands during the day

I would however follow it up with some door knocking the next week

Yeah that's a good idea, a follow up is important,

I don't see the benefit in leaflet drops without some form of canvassing

also why are you not looking round the house to see the windows before u quote ??? seems a bit daft to me as any sort of conservatory or extension or bi fold fecking doors could be out the back

and if anyone says u need a quote before u knock that ???? as if the person cant be arsed waiting 2 mins for u to look around the back theyr niot worth the hassle

this is called the making of a round and not filling it with time wasters

iv often thought that giving a free bottle of wine [half bottle?] might be a good idea to new customers . how about you put on your flyer (which are numbered) that each week you have a free draw for the winner of the wine . you could print the winning number on your website each week. this might mean that folk keep the flyer, for a long time

How about just knock doors and get customers (strange concept i know)/emoticons/tongue.png

I chat customers and a few have said they would never use somebody they had never spoken to in person
