i am converted

who's going to paris @daveyboy1 ?

wagtail, liquidator or your own modded channels

only your true love will see the eiffel tower

Practice on a pole and it is awesomeTop openers also

Just stick folded microfibre over pole tip like boarcity recommended to detail top edges on openers if they are too small to fan

I get the frames ok as they are all spotless anyway and sills tust turn pole over to use scrubber on them

Maybe need to do with ladders occasionally if grubby

And first cleans i still use ladders
Daveyboy did you know we have same avatar ? GATCHAMAN ( battle of the planets)

Been using my dog eared 14" wagtail past couple of days on windows that are a good bit bigger than what I would class a standard window size on the houses, wagtail is great just seems to cover so much more area than standard squeegee and reaches that bit further which can really make all the difference, still getting used to it though.

Really determined to get used to it, as a friend says he uses it alot especially on a pole, which speeds up his work.

When you watch people like Bob Hatt or Christopher Dawber with a wag on a pole you realise how good it is

Chris (wagga) worked for years poling top windows with modded wagtail to avoid ladders and did a great job of it

View attachment 4669 wagga was still on the ladders till about 5yrs ago . he used a youngman 10 rung diy ladder

these are a very popular choice with One man band windies doing domestic work for good reason ,as theyre featherlight yet strong .

i had one myself for about a year ,its a real classic of a ladder - but the skinny rungs are Lethally risky in wintertime or wet days , slippy as hell!! -you really have to be on top of your game to use one of these ladders

What about leaded wi dows? Give different treatment or miss them out?
I've thought a lot about using it but it's the amount of soap that get's left at the bottom of the window pane that bothers me, that is an eyesore if not detailed properly and my customers would pull me up for it. But apart from that i've gave it serious consideration, anything to make life a bit easier after running up and down ladders for 20 years, just dont want to leave a poor job, that is what has held me back so far

not extreme conditions no,-- but for most folk climbing ladders is very good for your core strength,im convinced of it
There's no doubt about that mate, find myself looking for a faster way to do it these days though because ladders can be time consuming and you only have so much energy in a day. I never used to see it that way but i'm not getting any younger lol

Yes ladders are defo food for core strength @boarcity epsevially when your leaning left and right cleaning, defo strengthens your core and helps with balance as well

Yes i agree, its what stops me using a wagtail also, i just cant get the results i want but i know some people can who have practiced a lot.

Just my opinion, but I think if you want to avoid ladders and do pole work, then get a wfp setup. Messing about trad on a pole should be done for the odd window, anything else is just a really inefficient way of working IMHO, and a big step backwards.

Agree with yer there @TolishAPurd. If yer not gonna climb ladders at all then a simple backpack & pole is easier. Homemade about £60-£70. Wagtail on pole ok for the odd window above conservatory but not for all & don't matter how many vids I watched I'm still not convinced it dont leave marks. I watched vids of pole work. Wetting the window & just straight lines down. I've tried this & still get the odd line???. 90% of the time ladder goes up easy.

I was thinking that myself. The waterfed pole is another debate altogether i just haven't been able to push myself to do it yet i'm just convinced my customers wont like it. Well most of my work where every other window cleaner does trad and it's been that way for years, my work is all established work that has been passed down from window cleaner to window cleaner. Apart from about 60 houses i picked up canvassing myself in a totally different area but i have no qualms about doing that wfp

I do a bit by pole purely through laziness and wanting to practice with my new wag/ pole setup

Fanning with a wagtail on a pole leaves no marks but it is mainly just for awkward windows or the odd house where it is a pain to place ladders

you Can get a good result with a pole plus wagtail. takes quite a long time to get good at it though. iv worn out over 10 harris poles in the last few yrs ,plus The Unger beast poles ,all poles used daily with wagtails by me and my crew

I am seeing the very good results i am getting boar

Got very good results with applicator and 0° swiveloc but this weather it dries too quick

Still think ladder is the best option but have done a few with wag and pole when i think to myself can't be arsed to get the ladders out for those 3 windows etc

It's the same as the liquidator it is good in theory to make work easier but isn't practical for all windows i would have thought

the moerman channel is heavier than the original wagtail channel. not enough to notice if you hold them side by side in your hands . but you do a solid week with the moerman and then switch back to using a wagtail channel and the difference is immediate

I have one house that faces the sun whenever I go, and it has a big awkward window with a long top opener. On one of the hottest of days last year I knocked a couple of quid off the price of the clean, and mentioned it on the invoice that its been left due to the heat. Seemed a better option then faffing about for ages and making it worse then when I turned up.
