"Help"Rescheduling Customers??

I always remember duncs....the customer dont know what day it is or notice anything most the time..

but...cheapie always sneaks a look at the windows before he starts to get reassured they havent got a new window cleaner since he last did em...

yeh always late...but if any one is arsey...bye bye onto the next one..

if they want regular they only have to say and they get regular..

but I really really want to get more than one on direct debit...once the moneys in your bank you really know you have to get it done../emoticons/biggrin.png

as for rescheduling by text I have moved one from monday to wednesday as I am at the dentist wednesday...

If you are too strict with your schedule you just make a rod for your own back. Most people don't care half as much as you think they do, so don't worry about it. When I sell my service to a new customer, I call ita monthly round, but I say I can be anything between 4 and 6 weeks due to weather and other factors. People are always happy with this.
Absolutely spot on, I used to turn myself inside out when late then wonder why when customers don't notice. You get the odd old dear who marks it on the Callander because they look forward to you comming round but seriously don't stress its a waist of emotions and energy.

It's not the being late that bothers me like someone said to me the other day "it's only windows", its if I do them a week later than scheduled do I just leave my spread sheet schedule as it is and clean them in seven weeks time rather than the agreed 8? I know no ones going to mind if I'm a few days late, but if I'm a few days early then ........??????????

Nah reckoning you would have to move your spread sheet along customers more likely to notice earlier than later. I use George software so rather than reschedule the work I just select whole day and put in date work was done and George reschedules accordingly but if your only talking a couple of days early should not be an issue for customers, a week earlier is probably more of an issue.

If you became a week late for some reason or another and have the capability to make it up then I would just clean them in 7 weeks to get your work schedule back. You could get away with this occasionally as very few would notice as they wouldn't remember the date you last cleaned them.

But if you get some who pay by BACS or cheque then they will have a record of the last payment, so I would be prepared in case someone made a comment. I would tell them that as you were a week late the previous clean you have now got them back on track etc.

As far as I know I only every had one old dear that used to record the day I cleaned the windows on her calender and then point out how many days I was late. She did this so she would have her window cleaning money ready when I came. She was a lovely old dear so I didn't mind.

NOT good times my van franked up again and had to be recovered back to the Renault dealership again  keeps blowing the 40amp battery fuse for frank sake /emoticons/angry.png( :bangheadwall: yet another day of lost earnings and another day behind on my schedule Booooohooooooo

I can't remember the details of the van you bought. If it was fitted with a split charge relay, where have they taken the power from for your leisure battery?

Might be worth disconnecting that and see what happens and bench charge your leisure battery every night for a while.

A week early won't be a problem for folk on every eight weeks

But like others I start work right through and start again not telling any customer wheni will be if I need gate open I put a slip through door day before asking to leave it open

Just heard back from the garage, and a engine wiring loom had worn through and shorted some of the wire's:(:turd::turd::turd:, had the clutch replaced about 2 months ago by another garage and Renault reckon they left the wiring guard off:mad::mad: I have two problems with that No1 I'll never be able to prove it & No2 it was my wife's uncles garage that replaced the clutch :turd::turd::swear: :wondering::turd::turd:. Typical just as everything regarding the business is falling into place nicely Frank comes along and kick ya in the Ballard's:bangheadwall:

It happens. Had they have done the clutch job and caused the problem they would have blamed something/someone else. You will never get to the bottom of it to apportion blame. At least they have identified the problem. The real drama is when they can't find a short, or think they have and it happens again a couple of days later.

I've seen vehicles spend more time in the garage looking for the cause of the fault than with their owners.

Sorry to hear about frank messing with your wiring. Good luck with it, my experience with renault is they charge a LOT more than I'm willing to pay, try and get a price beforehand, although it sounds fairly straight forwards...

Ive spoken to Renault, and the official repair would cost around £1200 replacing engine loom with new ect ect, however have offered to REPAIR the existing loom ect ect for £280 not to mention the £100 I paid the other day when they diagnosed (1hour labour) and replacement of the blown fuse:(. I didn't know where else to take it to other than the manufacture, problem is when its your company vehicle you just want/need it back on the road ASAP :hey: Hey Ho "MUST WORK HARDER" LOL /emoticons/wink.png

Yup totally, they have you by the proverbial balls there! My dad has a renault van and they once charged £600 to take some of the engine apart and fix something they said it was. Even though that was meant to be to fix it, all they did was to look. They then said they wanted another £3500 to do it now as it was harder than they thought (unblock / unstick piston I think) or £5500 for a replacement engine. Talk about over a barrel when the engines in pieces and its needed for work! The van was barely 3 or 4 years old. He demanded they put ut back together, as it was driveable when it went it, just low power. Luckily my dad knew someone else who fixed it for £1200, so just slightly cheaper! Never did find out if he got his £600 back for renault taking the engine apart and putting it back together, ie. doing absolutely nothing.. If you now know the problem at least you can phone around for quotes, although if your going with the repair option it might not be worth shopping around, but ask what length of time they will guarantee the repair for, if they will.

Sorry To hear about your Dad @MrBump and Im happy he finally got it sorted;) I should have known better really having worked in Volkswagen dealerships for many years prior to becoming my own boss doing windows (and must add NEVER been happier in my working life than I am now). I suppose i opted for the manufacture because its so important for me that it gets sorted asap and Im fully aware of the standard these boys have to adhere to. BUT only time will tell I suppose /emoticons/wink.png

Cheers, it was a few years ago now, but it made me decide to get a volkswagen (T5) instead of a renault when I got my van. I'm sure you can tell me plenty of stories about them too having worked there! I know they are fecking expensive, I'm just hoping it will be reliable and it won't need to go to the garage for a looong time! Else I may need need to sell a kidney!

Nice! I've got a T5.1 Highline 140, so not as fast as yours, but it does the biz /emoticons/biggrin.png I test drove a 180 but it was 'too' fast for town driving /emoticons/wink.png
