Liquidator not hitting the spot

Really at a loss, I'm doing it now whilst the early morning sun is still on window and I've done big arch movements, shallower movements, just above the water line a few inches above and still lines. When i press lightly more water/soap trails are left behind so I've tried moving the handle closer/further from window and the same for pressing harder. so frustrating and demoralising.
maybe if ya leave it for a wile and try again when ya aren't feeling frustrated it will click for ya

i used my liquidator and wasn't happy with my efforts so have set it aside to be mastered at a later eh less stressful time:rolleyes: for me

Cheers, it sounds daft but I'm steady for work and it's quieter during winter. If you do 3 jobs in a day you've earnt your money, yes it sounds crazy but it's crazy the amount people pay here. I've tried been relaxed etc and used different techniques. The one i did this morning was with my 18" i started vertically in the top left and started pulling across and before i got halfway across i started turning it horizontally to eventually hit the top right corner. I then came down the right about 30cm then had the squeegee leading raised about 30° before moving left and before getting to the end moved back up to top left to get water which was dragged across on ititial pull. I then came down the left about 30cm before then doing as i did pulling across to the left until i got to the bottom. There was still sun out hitting window and i couldn't see anything but the sun was higher then. I feel the early low rising and low setting sun is the worst. I have a feeling somtimes it's getting the balance right with the soap n water.

Might sound daft but does it take a few goes on a window first thing for a rubber to warm up.

Only in the standard squeegees, will have to try some in liquidator. Do you think they're better in them, would that help with lines.

Yeah that's the thing it doesn't seem to like when you hit a dry patch. I try not to go over too far past the soap line maybe max an inch. I used to try and go back up to catch any mistakes but then I'd get in to a mess as the blade travels over dry glass so just started using my rag to correct mistakes. Not really ideal I guess.
be one with the blade :ninja:

i have found the more i anelize and think about my technique i slow down get frustrated worry and all i needed was to change my rubber or use a bit more solution on glass

if your liquidator isn't working for ya set it to the side and use something that does and practice at home with ya liquidator

out yesterday started getting lines using my 10 inch ergotec w.t.f. is going on here i began to worry ah dont worry i will just change my rubber

happy days back in business

every time i have lost my confidence ( a lot ) in my technique my window cleaning has gone to sh_t cus i doubt myself and instead of it flowing it is stillted as boar has said

good luck it will come:thumbsup:

For me it got to the point where it drove me crackers, I was very close to throwing it on the floor and jumping up and down on it! It frustrated me more because I spent a lot of time watching polz's vids and taking on board all his advise ie soapy solution, angle, steady fan technique, clip fix, although I think I need to do that again, not sure i crimped them tight enough.

As @norm said sometimes it's best to walk away for a bit because it becomes too much of an issue.

It's not that warm here at moment 16-22 during days. I don't know if I'm imagining it but have found when I've done my little bit down the side i then come across the window and down otherside a bit quicker and that gets rid of water build up on squeegee which may have left lines before......maybe...maybe not. I appreciate your suggestions guys.

I wonder about soap build up at the ends and whether that's what's causing the lines? I watched Nick Christian's vid where he recommends using Unger liquid as you get less suds between the rubber and clip. Tried it, guess what, Still got lines. /emoticons/sad.png

Sounds stupid but try not looking at the squeegee just the glass while fanning your brain knows where your hand is so you don't need to watch it

Maybe it might help as you're not concentrating so hard on what the blade is doing

Trying too hard is counterproductive

Could it be the cut at the end of the rubber?

When I started using more soap, the rubber stuck better and removed more. perhaps the lines are from a liquid but not soapy enough surface, the liquid pushes up and above the rubber, where if it were 'heavier' with more soap it would stay on the rubber? Just guessing

Should add I'm using a modded 12" unger channel and moerman rubber not liquidator

I do some mirrored glass windows and as I fan if I look I see lines everywhere...

so I shut my eyes...true ..I think feck that shut em and fan away..

afterwards when I check them not a mark..

some days...er...we call them frank days on here...it just dont work ..no matter what you do...as jake and norm said ...throw it in the boot and start with different new fresh kit...

thats why I have a boot full of channels and rubbers..

I quite often double fan these days,,,if I see lines I just double back over and start again or re soap and start again or ...take my blade off and wipe it dry with my sill cloth and start again..

BUT MOST OF ALL DONT LET IT GET YOU DOWN...

just crack on...

guess who walked from his car to a job and found he had left his 18 inch in when he needed his 14 inch for the job..

the car wasnt far away ...but cheapie never goes back..

so out comes my little four inch from my pocket..

just crack on..

on that job the lad was in but I thought he wont pay me..he made me a cuppa though..so I banged my pay online bill in..

when I got around the back daddy was eating his toast in the conny ...

and he came out to chat as he cleaned his pond filter out ..but no money was offered so I thought as Im back the next day I will call then..

came home to find he had paid online..

sometimes the system works.../emoticons/biggrin.png

I thought it may have something to do with the way I cut my ends but @daveyboy1 said not to fuss too much and I'm inclined to agree having looked at my rubbers, the ends are not that bad really so can't see how it would affect it in a negative way!

I've tried using as much soap as poss but still struggle to get perfect results although as @cheapncheerful says you get some days that just don't happen for ya!

It's not as bad as the pic makes it look

It is smooth but as the razr starts to wear the shine goes making it look bad but it is 100% good as new just lost the shine

ahhhh so excited... cheapie can join the club...I got lions....oh I mean...lines ...yep at last..

it was a side window and it is used as an office so I always double check it and the sun was full on it and yep lines....

very small but defo lines in an arc shape but..I could only really see them as I went down the ladder..

now this house is probs three months since I last cleaned and as such the seals are really bad..

but took three attempts to get me happy enough to leave it and from then on cheapie took up praying...

well sort of...I went down on my knees to look up at the window I had just cleaned..

I have had the edge lines a few times but I just back track and fan straight over them so they dont bother me so much..

and I also got the stutters...yep the edge wouldnt glide down a door as I wanted it to..

not so bothered about the edge lines as I just detail them out but mid pane lines...:eek::eek:

so then I went to the tap and gave the blade a good wash and applicator too and not really had a problem since...but...the praying thing must look funny and I cant keep checking...

they were very very hard to see very thin and you had to look but they scared cheapie...

however...most of the insides are :eek::eek: anyway and most of the double glazing around here:eek::eek::eek: and the average custy isnt going to check every window but it was a bit scary.

so....the test goes on...

it is different slightly to fan...but I kinda like it so we shall see but cheapie has joined this post now.../emoticons/biggrin.png

Keefo I'm new to trad and I couldn't do it at all. I got those lines as there was dirt on the rubber. Anyway I switched to hard rubber, more soap (still not loads), but made sure there was a fair bit of water on the glass (especially important if the suns out) and holding the squeegee loosely in the fingers. I was holding it far too tight before. And now I'm tradding far better
