WCF

Help Support WCF:

I have learnt over the years that although i am very competent in looking after myself and more than capable of seriously hurting someone it is better to walk away and leave a situation

Not that it is always possible and if family is involved obviously you would fight tooth and nail for them but i think it is an age thing..not many people around here could bother me but i still will avoid grief if i can

Totally agree, much better to walk away, especially when your old and you now realise heated moments quickly pass but you take bloody ages to heal broken bones afterwards and may never fully recover! /emoticons/wink.png It's not worth it, if some wannabe kicks off, just walk off singing this, it always puts a smile on my face, but that might because even mother teresa could probably of kicked my **** lol - you might be better off not singing it out loud though! /emoticons/biggrin.png

Nice one mr bump

The thing with me is i learnt to box properly when i was at school and used to spar with a mate who is a kung fu and ikaedo instructor then carried on learning in the army and now learn an Israeli fighting system called krav maga which is used by law enforcement and close protection bodyguards etc

I know nobody is impervious to getting hurt but i don't fancy someone's chances if they have a pop

But nowadays would still prefer to avoid a confrontation

Well at least you know you can defend yourself if you ever got jumped or needed to protect your kids or someone. I was going to start learning kung fu soon to keep my boy safe, but only have about 60% use of my left arm which apparently is as good as it will ever get, so I might just have to stick to running away lol, fortunately I'm pretty quick. Or I'll get my little boy to learn it and he can protect me instead haha, except he's only 3 so it's a little wait before I get my bodyguard /emoticons/wink.png

Get him into something while he's young

Not only will he be safer it is also a reason for him to keep himself fit and out of trouble

Taekwondo is good or thai boxing as you need to be very fit

This guy is a multiple black belt at both and also a very good actor..makes the old stars like van damme etc look poor

But see how much dedication you need to be that good

[/media]I teach my son a bit at home and he was purple belt at karate before he gave it up a couple of years ago

He is now a gym addict at 14

I know that hanging round the shops drinking and smoking won't be his cup of tea

Many a time on the Road have I had near fights from idiots cutting me up - or admittedly me cutting them up, not so much these days as I'm now wfp and can't drive fast/reckless with all that water in the tank!

I quit just after I got my purple belt too lol, in shotokan karate when I was 14 as the instructor was a jerk. I want my boy to learn kung fu as I like the philosophy behind it, its for defence not offence and you are even taught to run first if you can. But the dedication on any martial art is tremendous and a very good life skill for the self discipline whichever one you do. And like you said, sure beats hanging outside the corner shop drinking!

ahhhh grasshopper.....

loved kung fu the tv series...

til I found out he couldnt really do any of the stuff and it was all special effects..

the whole hour you know hes going to kick the baddies ass and you just wait for that scene..

when you can walk on this rice paper with out leaving a mark...you are ready to go../emoticons/biggrin.png

if you know your hard enough to feck up someone then...you dont need to prove it..

unless of course you have to...

go ahead punk ...make my day../emoticons/biggrin.png

I always think of the poor guy who popped one on another guy and he fell to the floor hit the kerb and never got up again..

Did you know bruce lee was oriinally cast in that role but due to the Americans still being a bit racist they cast carradine instead

oh feck he would have been great...

there are many rumours about his death...

lee would have taken out the full town.....with one hand behind his back

Bruce was an actor mainly...

Some Kung fu schools teach attacking first too. Mine does. if you think it's going to kick off, with techniques for entry. After all, the right thing to do might well be attack, for instance someone's grabbed your loved one, you're pinned in a corner, there's more than one, got a weapon, etc. etc. legally, you can justify attack if you feel threat, but have to try and prove it of course

Haha thats shocking about bruce lee.

If someone had your loved one, and a weapon, and you felt threatened, then I think legality goes out of the window... (pun intended) /emoticons/wink.png

Jeet Kune Do teaches attack first if necessary, hit hard, hit fast and get the feck out of there...

I suffer from large foot and large mouth syndrome.

i was once washing a shop front and this guy comes over to me with his family , thinking hes clever he said "can you wash my wife"i tryed not to take any notice but he dosent stop he keeps staring i my face with a big grin.

so i told him "carry on and ile have no window to clean ile throw through it"

he starts shouting and cursing but his wife pulls him away

that was close glad the shop owner wasnt there
Sounds like he was a loose canon
