I think your probably in the majority if you included all windies in the uk, I wouldn't be surprisd at all if more than half didn't clean the frames. And if wooden frames or the frames were already clean then makes less difference, but to me the frame is part of the window and should be cleaned as part of he service. Maybe on some windows and tradding can get away with doing them less often, a couple of times a year rather than everytime or something, as I can see with trad it would take even longer to do frames and tops window frames could be a pain on regulars. Wish I was glass only as I'd be twice as fast! But a windows a window and it does look nice when the whole things are cleaned fresh to be fair, with wfp and on white upvc at least. I'm sure your glass is crystal though and that is the main thing!

A key factor to the frame argument 'To clean or not to clean' is how / what you personally perceive as a 'proper job'

When cleaning trad I mop the glass, wipe the frames with a microfiber keeping a thumb inside the frame on the glass at the same time so basically 'pre-detailing' then blade off and wipe sill. When typed out it sounds long winded, in reality it is a matter of seconds.

Also all these widow cleaners everyone know on their 'patches' well, 99% of them aren't in this forum, heck half have probably only just discovered 'cordless phones' let alone the internet. And half of them have been at it for 30 years and are nice guys that have loyal customers cause they are nice reliable chaps so frames are optional.

If you came to my home to wash my car and did not do the wheels you would not get paid.

If you argued, 'I said the car mate, wheels are extra!' You would get told to 'Foxtrot Oscar' (not using the phonetic NATO dictionary!)

It is simply a matter of what you want to do and what you are happy with, I am slightly OCD so for me if the glass is clean and the frame is not I can not sleep.

Frame is part of the window, the only time I don't clean the frame is if it is really old flaking painted wood, but I will always explain this when I quote the job.
