Somethings gotta give

I'm probably stating some obvious stuff here but yell.com give you a free listing, only gives me one call a week on average but ok seeing as it's for free...then there's always the opportunity to knock the rest of the road when the lead comes in and ask "sorry to disturb but I've just been asked to clean your neighbour at number whatever, just checking to see if anyone else in the road would like their windows cleaned"...it would be a real bad day if I didn't pick up at least a few...Thomsons Local will also put a free listing in...You probably need to get a few more than hopefully the work will snowball, that's how the majority of my new work is generated, happened again today, approached by a new customer when I was cleaning his neighbour, I thought it was a ball ache just doing one house in a road, now I have two that generate £50 between them so worth doing...I'm probably fortunate to live in the Southdowns National Park as there are a lot of decent sized, wealthy villages and an apparent shortage of Windies...if prices are poor in Wakefield and the market saturated it might be worth a thirty minute drive to find somewhere affluent with less competition.

Your spot on with the pressure washing Eviestevie, mega bucks if you can get the work, and that's a great idea with the leaflets, I've done about 8 driveways/patios this year (first year pressure washing) and it really is rewarding and excellent money! So did you just put this leaflet through your customers houses as you did your round?

Adam - don't worry about a gutter vac, complete waste of time, just get up the ladder and do it by hand, you can charge good money for cleaning gutters out, if you really don't wanna do it by hand then use a gutter tool, I bought these the other day and did my first gutters with them on Friday last week, it was fantastic, and miles miles faster than a gutter vac!

Jake I gave them to customers to start and led from there I'm totally booked up on the drives now

If I was cleaning a drive i go up that road write a quote and post that way they see doing the drive down the road then do have a good spy lol

I've done six on one road and 2 roofs in the nicest area round here it defiantly works

Keeping up with jones and all that!!!

25 for weekend is 3000 psi and 15 lpm petrol its good job but it hit or miss as only some have the turbo nozzles

only come with one head so u cant change them and they have locked it to the max pressure

cheers @Jake but im not climbing up ladders, especially that high. i dont have any decent ladders anyway and when ive tried using them i shake around like a leaf, not a fan of heights.

i will look out for a gutter vac on ebay but not yet

Pressure washing rental sounds a good idea though so i will bare that in mind if i get an opportunity need to get some seo done on my website to help with that

I did get asked about gutters the other day but i quoted it too cheap i think.

meanwhile i shall start pushing the carpet cleaning properly now and get some training asap, managed to book 2 jobs in for this week off facebook and then got 2 calls for car valeting that i cant do

the problem im having is i get no work all week start panicing then come thurs fri i get a few callsl wanting jobs doing right away and i simply havent got time to do them

just want another 500 quid a month in windows so i can go full time and everything should fall into place.

Why dont concentrate 100% on window cleaning and leaving the other services till you get business going?

And get practice on them ladders, its the most important tool for a windie next to his squeegee

Defo get on the ladders more Mate, as if you can get over the fear it'll open many a door for you, gutter clearing is the best, really Really easy and good money - just get used to those ladders!!

yeh that was the initial plan jacob get the windows going first, but proving a lot more difficult than i thought, i was hoping i would be full time by now but things havent gone to plan and if i can get an odd job doing carpets etc i will take it.

and no lads lol, no ladders for me at least not until i can buy some good ones and an ankalad or something, not risking my neck up ladders im not that skint yet

What i meant was to get some 2 story ladder and then litterally take one step at a time  get confident with it, i didnt like heights at first, but thats cured now.

A good tip always only look up the ladder when up and down and for god sake dont look down then you will be fine /emoticons/wink.png

@Eviestevie @Jake How much is the going rate for a driveway?
Totally depends on how dirty and how easy it looks to do, but usually anywhere from £120-250 for an average size patio/driveway, usually only takes 2-3 hours as well!

Block paving then needs re-sanding the next day, but this doesn't take long, I always include that in the price. Patios are great as no re sanding needed!

No chillis..did just have indian for dinner though..lamb naga..naga naan and the usual other bits

Not at all hot lol..got a bit of a sweat on now

Well only if they get dirty, usually only one or two downstairs windows Dave - 60 second job!
That's the good thing doing fascias..always add in the price of the windows that you will drip :turd: on
