After watching waggas new backpack vid i decided i would try my setup with the water flow higher like him

Did my in laws and my windows today and strangely used no more water than usual but got them done quicker with a good rinse

Anyone else or is it just me?

Been telling people for ages to increase flow Dave,

It's delusional to think lower flow saves water, all your doing is spending longer trying to rinse which actually uses more water, higher flow will mean rinsing is very fast and in turn uses less water, there is a balance, but in general 3/4 on the flow control is much faster & efficient compared to 1/2 flow and lower

That's why I've also got the 3mm pencil jets in to aid flow, much faster rinsing!

I had it on it's lowest since i had it and now up to half way..big difference

When you get a van mount you'll know to straight away go high flow, wish id gone high flow straight away, would've saved so much time!

I reckon halfway is a lot quicker to work with than on the lowest setting

Wouldn't want to go higher though as it will start to splash too much..once i have the van sorted i reckon 3mm jets are a good idea

I only use fan jets, had pencils on my first brush in 2008 and hated them, had fans ever since.

My controller goes from 01-99 and is set permanently at 70, I can do an easy 30 houses with 300 liters without trying to be conservative, My tank is 500 liters and I will only run out if I don't do a full fill the night before.

Hated fan jets green, 3mm pencil jets don't splash as the water comes out in a thick flow, fan jets take ages to rinse compared, I've used both, and pencil jets rinse much faster. Fan jets spray too much water outwards, which in turn creates less of a rinsing effect as gravity can't move lighter smaller droplets as fast as a big splurge from the pencil jets, the pencil jets concentrate the water better and it flows down the window faster = much faster rinsing, I will use my fan jets very occasionally for certain windows, but not many!

I use 75 on the flow controller - all flow controllers are the same 0-99 there all spring controllers, just branded in the sellers design depending on where you buy it.. So even at 75-80 I found fan jets really slow for rinsing

i have 3mm pencles flo set at 55 i had it at 80 but found some windows started leaking for me 55 is idel
That must dribble out tench? I was really surprised at how low the pressure is with the 3mm jets compared to 2...

Using more water means you use less water. Crazy but true.

I use loads, walk away from the window confident it's clean.

i can hold the brush 3 feet away fron the glass and it still hits the glass in summer when the hose is soft it will bild up pressure an squart 5 meters lol if u turn off at brush then wate for the pump to stop

Tench do you mean water was getting inside the windows at high pressure? I worry about that on some windows.

Don't forget guys you can't compare controller numbers without the pump facts too, someone on 60 with a 4ltr/min pump would only need to be on 40 with a 6ltr/min pump to get the same amount of water being pumped through.

Thats what I was thinking bump, cos my shurflo at 50 wouldn't shoot the water out to 3 feet with 3mm pencil jets!

yes i had a few jobs leak throu the window below the openers never had it b 4 on them jobs, one of them was a ground flore window the custmer was doing the dishes wile it happened  lucky she fancyed me so she was like dont werry about:D, i then cleaned the water off the inside glass for her ,also i had a job that never played up but when i uped my water it left salt streaks from the top seal cleaned the same window 3 times still did the same so turned water back to 53 an it was fine then im thinking the water was blasting under the seal an causing problims maby

I see a lot of controller numbers given out but without the variables it means little!

What flow rate is your pump and what psi?

what size jets do you have

what hose bore?

what hose length?

all are things that will effect the flow, having 30, 50 or half way means nowt

mines runs on full always, i use 6mm microbore at 60m with 2mm jets but my pump is only 4lpm 100psi

My pump is 60 psi i think and 2mm jets and about halfway is good for me

On a trolley so only a few metres hose

While those variables do make a difference, most of us have very similar gear, the vast majority use the same shirflo pump and usually 8mm minibore, and almost everyone has the same spring controller, in fact I never seen a window cleaner round my way without the standard 0-99 spring controller... Of course it's always rebranded from the retailer, but the digital ones are all the same...

But yeah there are a few things that can make a difference... 3mm jets have been an absolute Gem for me, much better rinsing!

When i get a decent brush i will try 3mm jets with it

To be fair the 2mm are ok with my setup but if i up the flow anymore i will need them as it fires out rather than flows out

Yeah it will be a nice addition Dave, cheap as well

I don't like fans after trying a friends so could have 2mm and 3mm in the brush instead of pencils and fans
