As some of you may know I've been banging on about starting up for a while now. The original plan was to start up along side my work until I had enough window cleaning to hand my notice in. I've just about finished sorting my van etc so was due to do my first bit of canvassing this week.

Go into work to find out today that 25 of us are being laid off, no redundancy as not been there long enough. Bit of a *******, but could be the kick up the **** I need.

Not the ideal time of year to be canvassing for new work I suppose but needs must. At least I will be even more determined now!

It may be blessing in disguise

Sorry to hear you've been laid off, but keep your head up and hit the canvassing hard /emoticons/wink.png

go for it and good luck

Yeah the world is your lobster;)

I wouldn't say "could be" the kick up the **** you need

You are now in the position that you need to give this 100% from now onwards or get to the jobcentre

Sounds a bit harsh but that's reality

Everything you do from now on needs to be aimed at getting more customers

Doesn't matter if you have to go sick from work if you get some jobs on as you are gonna lose the job anyway

Not like you need a reference to give to your new boss is it?

Seriously you will be fine if you get your nut down and get stuck in..good luck mate

This time of year is good for getting new work..i got 3 new monthly jobs since yesterday morning

All 3 came to me also..no canvassing needed

Some days are good like that..some nothing happens

I'm snowed under with emails and phone call sat the moment. And then when christmas comes you'll get all the folk that want thier windows cleaning before the party they are throwing. And then in the new year when the sun bounces off the snow and the dirt shines through the windows, they'll be calling. And then when spring kicks in you'll be in prime season. Good luck fella.

dont worry work is always around and the time of year has little effect...

shame youve not done a lot of windowcleaning before as a recent post has work going...but knowing the poster....I think you would need to know your stuff...

things do seem to happen for a reason so hopefully it is the start of a new era..again good luck and keep us informed:D

Don't let the other blokes that have been laid off know what you're going to do, it might make them think along the same lines as you and go into window cleaning too.

Good luck jamiesmack,Where you based mate?/emoticons/smile.png

Tuffers is spot on there!

Keep shhtum!!:zipit:

I fortunately handed my notice at my old job and haven't looked back since.

Lots of dirty F.S.G out there as well.

Not even 2 yr into it mate and its the best job iv'e ever had!!!

Bite the Bullet & GO for fit.

Door Knocking is far more successful, than just relying on leaflet dropping

Good Luck.

Good luck mate, I started out on my own on the 5th Jan and really worried about the time of year being straight after Christmas ect and thought it would take months to make it worthwhile, but if you do a great job with the ones you have word will soon get round and you'll have more than enough before you know it.

If i had been unemployed when i started back up i would have done it even quicker

Surprising what you can do when you have no choice
