Hi Guys New Here And New To Window Cleaning

A litre weighs a kilo so if your berlingo had a payload of 800 kilo you would have to take into account yours and any passenger's weight plus equipment so 1000l would be impossible

I don't do a job for less than a tenner and i am 30 miles away from london..

I reckon an average 3 bed has got to be at least £12 in london..although i am from west not slummy south /emoticons/tongue.png:rofl:

Good info dave cheers.

Slummy south how very dare you yea I reckon you could be right. There's a hell of alot of money in london so £12 is a pittance to many really.

What about amount of cleans in a day?

As many as you want or can manage

You will be slower at first plus most new customers have dirty frames and windows that will take longer to do the first time

Once you have been doing it a while 15 houses a day is not too much effort and will still give you time at home

I made the switch to wfp 2 months ago and can fly through my jobs now

Everyone has their own way but this is how quickly and easily you can clean maintenance cleans..i can clean quick trad but this does the frames and glass so much easier

Cheers mate that's ace.

Can I use things like ubik with wfp on 1st cleans. Do I need a separate brush to use it with as to not contaminate you "good" brush.

Also every other house round here has long strip type vents in every bloody window. How do you overcome this without flooding the house or not getting a thorough clean?

And am I right saying it will take 2 or 3 cleans before pure will dry clear?

I use ubik on first cleans if i need to

Dries perfect on first clean

Those vents above the windows just need a scrub above them and rinse to avoid dirty water dripping from above them

Get a 400 litre tank, and charge more than £9 (£9 is really cheap mate, for London) that 400 litres will last 3-4 days easy if you use a water control device - aquadaptor, one shot Etc, you won't have to be filling barrels up or messing around with the trolley that way,

If you don't get a van, then trolley it is... But you will need to charge more than £9, even on council houses, you need atkeast £12-15 in London!! Even that's cheap!

You'll soon find doing more than 15 houses hard hard work, so price higher and you'll be able to do 10-12 houses and hit your target, plus you'll use much less water as you'll be cleaning less houses, and you'll be home by 2pm /emoticons/wink.png

Slummy South?? Why I oughta!! :punch: /emoticons/tongue.png

Welcome @Reach For The Glass. Some good advice from daveyboy and jake there, and you'll find all the info you need from all the guys on here.

I'm a south Londoner (you may have gathered) fully trad and charge 12/15 for 3 bed semi. You can easily charge 10 for council houses, I have a few and never had any grief about my pricing.

Sometime in the near future I'm thinking of a small wfp setup like the one daveyboy suggested, buy my pure and start wfping tops, see how I get on and where it might take my business. Anyway best of luck fella and keep us posted /emoticons/smile.png

WARNING -WFP IS ADDICTIVE

once you start you'll be wanting a van asap

"I'll just wfp tops"....i seem to remember saying..yeah right ..wheres me bucket..in the motor..sod it I'll just wfp these ones then lol

Hi ant

Cheers mate. What area are you roughly. Yea seems a decent way of doing it that's what I had in my head. Trad bottoms wfp tops. First clean ill wfp the lot easier to clean frames like this I'm guessing.

Really ? Do people pay that much. Last windy I had charge £4. To be fair I only have 3 windows and a porch. But in the end he was a cheeky ****. Turning up when he felt (was supposed to be 4 weekly)sometimes he'd come 6 weeks then 2 weeks after that. Knocking on my door at 10pm asking for his £4 like I was supposed to know he had done them that day.

I got shot after 3 months. Even said he'd cleaned them one day when. I was in. I questioned it as the windows had hard bird **** in them. He said ill do them again, I just said you won't mate... ever again thanks.

Never seen him since and he had 30 40 customers on my road alone.

Yea dave I can see this happening when it's freezing outside.

Just got to canvass for work I suppose. Strange I can't even in visage having 1 customer yet let alone the 90 - 100 that I need.

Courtney from the water place gave me a tip that when he did first cleans he squeegeed the windows after to avoid spotting...i have done this a few times on bottoms when I've been in a rush so did the frames and glass as one instead of waiting for the frames to dry and not wanted to take a chance and seems to work well

No soap or anything just pulled the water off the glass and detailed with a microfibre

The customer can see what a good job wfp does instantly too

Hi jake
Do you mean a complete van mount system?
Yeah van system if you get a van, if not then trolley will be the option, but with the van system you'll have water onboard to last days, which will make it a lot easier...

Eltham and surrounding neighbourhoods is where I toil mate, you?

I love tradding but just seems logical to add a wfp setup at some point.

yeah, I think £10 for an average council house all round and £12 for an average 3 bed semi all round is about right. If just front then £5 for council £6 or £7 for 3 bed semi but of course it's dependable, porch/conny etc. I usually add a pound or two for leaded windows as it takes a bit more effort to trad them /emoticons/tongue.png

Sounds like you had one of the dodgy ones cleaning your windows, I've gained a lot of work from so called windies ripping people off! Not sure if I should love em or hate em /emoticons/biggrin.png

Can't believe he'd knock on your door at 10pm Cheeky sod!

I'm in the same boat as you...your earnings targets are easily achievable...as others have suggested you maybe underestimating how much you should be charging, everyone will be different with what they charge but if you are going to be professional, insured, reliable and do a great job every clean (no skipping clean looking windows) then as a guide £10 for a small terrace front and back is a minimum and prices go up from there.

I use traditional and WFP methods but I only WFP the windows I can't reach safely from my ladder...First cleans I will always clean traditional first, stuff that's inaccessible I will clean from the inside and then WFP subsequently.

Good luck building up the round, I wish I'd started mine years ago.

Cheers dan good advice mate.

A grand 6 days is easy? Wow never knew it was so lucrative if your proffesional about it.

Any reason why you first clean trad?

Do you use van mount wfp ?

Cheers mate

Some people clean first time trad to ensure nothing stubborn is missed and is 100% spot on job

Future cleans wfp keep the windows in that condition

I like to do first cleans wfp as i can get the frames and sills good
