Underdog that's the problem you cannot do anything about it its basic science That's why most insurance companies wont insure vans with tanks fitted others are putting a 650lt limit as a few on this site have found out come renew time
Which posters on here have had a 650L limit or been refused insurance @spanish pete?

i forgot to pull off one of the hose plugs to let the tank breath when im working.went for a good hour and half before i realised. tank was sucked half the sie lol
It's all double dutch to me mate lol all new stuff to learn

It's lunacy

I wouldn't accept it if they voided my insurance as it doesn't ssy anywhere so how would we know

If you fit alloys then yes it is a mod

If you fit spoilers then yes but to carry an alloy wheel or a spoiler as a load is not the same

If i bolt a tank through the chassis then it's a mod

If it is just strapped it's not

What about the guy i buy my water from ..he has a tank strapped in purely to deliver water and no reels..hose etc

He is just delivering something same as any other van driver

Daveboy you don't have to convince me. I 100% guarantee ring 5 insurance companies and 3 wont insure you with tank the other 2 will say 650lt limit. If you can have your insurance void because you didn't tell them you fitted alloy wheels to your car .
I recently re insured my van with direct line. Told them I had a 500l tank strapped in, made no difference at all. Been the same for the last 6 years

Kev, One Stop in Stirling will fit the tank for you as they used to do it for us when we were in Stirling. They would fit it for around £200 max if they had to take off your petrol tank.

Kev I've recently insured my van through

A plan insurance and told them I had 2 tanks in my van. They were interested in the total liquid capacity of the tanks combined being under a certain amount (600l if memory serves). Gave me a decent price. You also get a 10% discount if mentioning this forum. Click on the menu button (3 lines) next to Market Place at the top of the page. Brings up member discounts and it's in there

When I started up I wasted a lot of money on a manufactured trolley system that weighed a ton and was rubbish. Now got a £15 pump with £50 flow controller mounted on a piece of wood in the van. 100m micro bore hose reel and a big leisure battery. I refine water at home and only carry pure but as others have said you only need a Di in the van with your water. It seemed like rocket science at first but all becomes clear after a bit. Good luck whichever route you choose

If you can build a trolley you can build a van mount

So basic but daunting if you don't know what it entails

That's reassuring! Mate but directline is one of the best insurers out there. Quick edit haha

Cheers for that doug that could be worth looking into. It was me you spoke to the other day on the phone. What way would they fit it would they bolt it down as it is or would i need a cage?

Cheers for the advice mate. I'd probably ask my own insurers i have got at the moment how much it would be extra and take it from there

You've got a point there davey but i'd run it past them first and just hope for a good result. Or get it bolted down, one or the other but at the moment i'm looking for the cheapest option as long as it is safe

So it's Agreed ! We all say DONT sell off your existing customers and years of income - and don't spend £1800 on a setupSearch this forum previous threads it's all there to read Kev - it's a big step after 19 years so all the best

You won't regret it mate I did same thing

Oh and you could do with backpack there essential in my experience ( quick , portable and a back up pump for emergencies )
Cheers for that mate

Hi tax mate. I've looked at different prices for stuff individually and it is nowhere near £500! Could you help me out with some advice on how to get the stuff cheaply? My other option is a trolley

Why not get a backpack, a pole and a trolley setup first?
Another alernative to a tank is to make a d.i.y trolley and leave it in the van and connect a reel of microbore to it, then you have a van mount and a trolley in one.

Buy 10+ barrels for cheap off ebay and away you go
Can i connect a DI tank to that as well mate to make pure?

Sorry when I said £500 I dint mean pole - just meant tank pump reel

Hi mate, you can either D.I before you fill the van up, or fill the van up with tap and D.I on demand.

Theres so many options you can go with, all depends on budget and how you want to work, but you can go wfp cheap or theres no doubt
