Spoke to Mark who made this video and he said for me this is the way to go. I only need 100 litres a week on Saturdays. And for me this is better than an RO. I think the principle behind it is pump the tap water into the first DI which is a bit rundown (meaning the TDS coming out is 16 or something) then put it through the next DI which has fresher resin and this brings the TDS down to 0. Is this right? Anyone done this?

He reckons can make 4000 litres for £70. I live in Bournemouth and TDS is high (over 300 think), but this should still work here apparently.

I go through roughly 5500 litres of water per week all through a twin DI !

Its not as expensive as it seems.

My water is also 110ppm

Look for second hand ones.... or buy off ebay.. ?

Also Tulsion resin is the best... Daqua are the cheapeast as far as i know

Just called company who sells DIs and they said they can sell two with resin for £180, He recommended two 11 litre ones.

In my situation I may not have access to water in garage so might have to drive or carry the DIs 40 metres down the hill near my flat where there is a tap. Or drive to girlfriend's and fill my barrels which will go in my car through the two DIs. Are two 11 litre ones practical for this or would I have to just leave them in once place (e.g. garage)?

My 11 litre vessel is quite light so no bother

The spectrum 25 l one tho is a different story certainly wouldn't want to be lifting that

I bought both mine from ebay from the usual guy, about £35 each posted i thnk, i have 11L ones

i use twin d.i with a tap tds of around 150, about 750l a week and i go through a bag of resin approx every 3-4 months.

Mate for 300ppi you are going to burn through your resin.

The state of the first bottle wont matter a stuff once it's creeping up to 16-20ppi it will just leap to 'knackered'

You will end up changing both bottles regularly. And we all know resin is not so cheap.

You could get an RO for the price of 4 sacks of resin and if only makin 100L Per week it will last you for am absolute age.

DI set ups are fine for users like @adamangler that have tap water of just 100ppi but at 300 save yourself the cash and heart ache and get an RO.

I have just bough a cheap 100 gpd RO but not plumbed it in yet as had to order more pipe

tested it out though and im getting a tds of 3 out of it. i now expect a sack of resin to last me a year /emoticons/smile.png

The general rule of thumb is owt over a 100ppm get a RO but if you only use 100l a week and dont plan to use more you may as well just use D.I

Ok will order two DIs. See how it goes with the TDS of over 300. I just don't have the facilities for an RO at the moment. Working from car. I don't have own tap in the garage I am going to get with my new flat I am purchasing. I just get a garage and then there's a communal tap 50 metres away in same block of flats complex. I don't think I can get a tap plumbed in.

At the moment I am taking my ten 25 litre barrels to a guy who sells it only from 4pm-6pm (so not convenient). Then driving back hoping police don't stop me cos car's suspension is so low, then stashing these heavy barrels in a garage of an old lady who I do gardening for and who lets me keep my gardening gear. Hoping she or her friend doesn't see me. All of this is a massive headache- lots of time wasted and inconvenient.

If I get twin DIs I can fill up in her garage(where I can keep the DIs). Or drive with them to girlfriend's or when I get my flat store everything in the garage 4o metres away from the outside tap; the other side of block of flats where I can drive around to with DIs!

i use twin di also i find unger resin the best wcw have it on speshel
What's your TDS?

I was told I should be able to make 4000 litres for £70 at my TDS. Better than the 250 litres I buy and the hassle with transporting it and time wasted getting it back, sure!

I used to have twin di but now trying out 2 pre filter / 1 di from my tap water so making pure as going into the tank then have anther 1 after pump before hose reel to help keep it pure / polish it and my resin is lasting hell of a lot longer and also I notice my flow is so much better

Is it better or still take some time to know for sure?

U have the link for the predicted thing?
