I cover large areas that I have customers in and I would like to employ another window cleaner so i can take more customers on but my question is whats the going rate or do you give them a share of each customer Or rate per hour does anyone have casual staff too.Any advice would be helpfull I know good help is rare

depends where u live .im in east anglia and i pay my lads a tad over 7 quid per hour guaranteed 5 full days a week work no matter what and theres no target set . other firms have a set target each day it must be met or hell to pay .

my lads theyre gettin a pay rise in Jan , but not for anybody new who got to prove himself a year before he gets a rise. End of the day theres no rules about how much or how nicely you pay ,your the governor its your business . when i started employing i had to up a lot of my prices so i could pay employee insurance and cover bank holiday pay and still make good coin - but its well worth employing,in my opinion

I Know I can double my customers. When you took somone one first time did you have to wait to get the money for your pocket or wage if you wanna call it that

he started as a partimer, three days a week .

i suppose there was a week or three before my 1st employee got the hang of the job, that period he cost me and because i was training him this slowed me up , i didnt earn anything much from him in that short period . but once he knew how to do it i could get on with my own work while he did his , and i then started bringing home more money than i ever did on my own ,increasingly

i also had him doling out flyers to ramp up the workload ,this fuelled the fire so to speak. we did a hell of a lot of new cleans between us that year .

apart from more money coming in,the main benefit was on my own body,i felt a lot better straight away. little things such as running back to the van to get a different size squeegee ,it was him now doing it ,not me

i recommend taking on parttimers first as you wont have the work for a fulltimer so it will cost to much but once work ramps up

i then took on a second parttimer which has a lot of advantages [2 parttimers are much more useful than 1 fulltimer ,who might go sick on you ]

I subbed off a firm about 8 years ago

I had my own arrangement of me giving him 20% of the work i did but i covered sickness and holidays of his 10 staff so worked every day

His own staff he expected to do £20 an hour of work so paid them £10 an hour leaving him £10 an hour x9 (not 10 as i was always covering someone)

Took him 22 years to get to that stage then he sold up (bastad)

I suppose it all depends what they earn you an hour

No point if they only do 1 job an hour and expect 8 quid pay for it

I think the difference is the guy i subbed off only took on experienced people and you will lose out at first if training someone

Also will they be on their own earning for you or doing each job with you?

The boss expected them to do 20 a hour? I'll work for him /emoticons/smile.png That would be easy money. Can use the other 50 mins to have a kip haha
