After umming and arhing I spoke to the missed and she an I both agree it's time to quit my full time after getting 20 plus calls in the last 3 days and getting 70% of the work it's s bad time for the company I work in comin up to Christmas but I'm sick of welding and my small buisness is kicking off this will be the first time in leaving a full time job to run a buisness so I'm very nervous I just know I will make this work !!

Good luck

Just started out myself , it's a mixture of highs , lows and what am I doing but in the end I think it will prove the right decision( hope so anyway!)

It's the best feelling being your own boss innit Neil?
It certainly is. And it fits in so well around the family and my wife's business. I was speaking to an ex colleague the other day and said that, even after this short time, I don't think I could ever work for someone again.

The company I have worked for since I left school has just shut down so I have decided to take the plunge a long coming. All ways said I wanted to do window cleaning but nether the right time, as my wife has opened her own estate agency I have taken up the slack at home with the kids etc

so as Adams0211 said about fitting round wife's business I'm hoping I've making the right choice

cane the marketing -EVERY day . even if you cannot get round everyone who enquires immediately, long as uve written down their details [Lay notepads in your car, by your bed, in the lounge, each with a pen nearby , you will get to them all very shortly . believe in yourself

I think it ruins you as an employee. Once you've had a taste you'll never go back, and even if you do, you'll always be looking to go self employed again.

Totally agree with you my wife is a marketing guru so she keeps telling me.

she is bamboozling me with info its like being back at school

I have a fascia and windows job in the morning..

Nobody home

Couple hours work

80 quid

Now that is worth being self employed for

as the troops have said its great feeling being your own boss

work hard none stop and it will all come together

your work will get better and better too

its a nice thought that you will always have graft not depending on anyone for work

you have the backing off all these members here to help you out looking forward to your future posts on how well your doing

In my 5th year now. Got a nice round.. Have 6 sets of ladders covering 6 areas on a 6 - 8 week cycle.. I worried about "Taking the plunge".. Especially, about having an eye problem and not being able to drive. But. negatives can be turned into positives.. Glad I did it.. if you work hard at it. You'll be fine. Good Luck..

I've seen your story before, and I have to say it always impresses me, good on ya mate.

I work around my wife and young kids and have to say you'll be surprised at how much you can get done (and the money) in a school day...its a great motivator having that deadline and being able to organise yourself with your own boundaries.

I doubt that many employed couples can make two fulltime wages without paying for childcare!!!

Been cleaning myself for a month now and decided I definitely could benefit with a backpack pole system for all the awkward / hard to reach Windows ( generally the dormer in the roof)

What pole would be best clx 22 or slx 25??

Enjoying it so far but realise I'm still slow compared to you guys, but just trying to do a thorough job.

Cheers

gd question jclean the 22frt nice and light will cover most jobs

the 25ft covers almost everything i have it,s tad heavier but really handy

my mate has the 22ft and I use the 25ft all day, make sure you get light brush also
