Got caught up in a small cul de sac yesterday chatting to 2 window cleaners, they rocked up in a old motor, ladders on the roof, bucket in the back, I was just finishing off on my job and they were checking out my van, thought might have some hassle here, but decided to pull up by them and make convo, they were keen to chat, but straight away went off on one about water fed poles, "yeh mate we tried them things out and it slowed us down loads like" asked em why but not alot made sense really (dont think he has ever used one) I then said how about windows you can't reach etc, ah we just miss em mate, but i think he really wanted a pole system and was maybe just having a dig at me as I was in "their" street, seemed ok lads but couldnt help thinking what was he going on about saying it's slower!

I think the not having to climb ladders and being able to switch from one window to the next instantly adds severely more time to a job.

its always slow when you first start, i bet he just had a go of someone elses set up n it took him ages to do a house. i'm 100% faster now than when i started

Same here @simon when I first used one I was like ooo this is a little trickier than it looks, but then soon get used it and speed and the way you work gets much better. How he thinks up and down a ladder and all that messing about is much faster was beyond me!

Two experienced trad guys who also get away with leaving stuff they can't easily get to, I bet they are quick if they work well as a pair

No doubt they leave plenty @Jimroot as the 4 bed house they were doing was £5.50, they may well work quite quickly as a pair, but no where near as fast and thorough as 2 blokes with waterfed poles and a organised setup. Wasn't timing but ladders off the roof took a couple of mins, so time lost before they started.

i was trad for 20 years on and off, full time wfp now, i do a few regulars trad only because of access , flat roofs and glass that wont clean wfp.

i can now park up and clean 8 - 10 houses straight off if van parked in right spot.

citroen dispatch van, i can lock my front doors with rear opened.

i can close door over with hose hanging out also.

i also fit a alarm onto rear doors when closing over. door opens a screeching high decibel alarm goes off.

little black box alarm they were giving away to females to use if feared attack happened.

when you disapear around backs you cant see. but you can hear

glass that wont clean wfp.
Heard somebody else mentione this, can't think where now, but personally not come across any that won't clean with pure water? Some water hating glass can take longer to rinse is that what you mean?

I am one too that think waterfedpole is slow, i only use it on the odd window, and Ithink it its messing around, ladder of roof is done in a flash if you use rhino clamps, i think i wil trad to the happy end /emoticons/biggrin.png but each to their own

I use the Rhino ladder stow which is super quick but still by the time it's off the van and up at the first window I have already cleaned that and the frames with my pole and on to the next, your still walking down your ladder and carrying it over to put up to the next window. But yes mate each to their own, what works for one may not be right for another. I find a big seller on water fed pole is being able to clean windows that are not acsessible by a ladder such as over a conservatory, many of my customers took me on for that reason, and my detailed work of course /emoticons/wink.png

I used to defend trad like it was my baby,

But wfp is so much faster, and we all claim we were 'fast tradders' and I was certainly fast, but wfp is miles faster for me, just being able to do upstairs Windows without moving a ladder saves a lot of time, as does no detailing and messing about with cloths etc,

Defo miles faster to wfp for me!

I dont have many blocked windows, the houses are very different over here, flat 1 storys, mostly. But if i encounter one, its usually done when i do the inside which is then every time i clean.

But another reason i might not ever go proper wfp is because i like to take it slower and enjoy cleaning the windows (yes i am sad) and seeing insant result is what i like

That's fair enough, although most who go wfp find they enjoy working more, as it's easier and more profitable,

But it might be different for you guys in Denmark...

i no a guy who who wrks in same area as me (toney) he thinks his lad is faster than me on the ladder he also thinks wfp is **** lol he has never used it tryed it lmfao same old story realy the trad lads get jelles of the wfp guys its realy that simple

I was guilty of slagging off wfp without actually trying it, then again, I think we all did when we first saw it! We get stuck in our ways I suppose!

yes when i used to wrk for my m8 years ago he said im thinking about trying wfp i was like no dont get it i like my 3 tear lol funny how things change

I have never cared what the method was, I am doing this for the money, if one way works out better and faster that is the method I will use, if a new method comes out next year that proves better, that is what I will use.

I trad for maybe 6 months, I won't claim to be a fast trader, I was decent, but I can't see how its possible to trad as fast as WFP, just can't see how its possible?

The other day I did a council house semi and a house front only. The semi was a good distance away from other house. Most of my 100mtr hose. I notice 2 guys doing a semi across the road. 1 guy at front, 1 at rear. I finished both on my own. They were just moving on to next door.I had a chuckle to myself as I drove past....LOOSERS /emoticons/smile.png

Happy tradding, works OK for my current situation, and I enjoy it. Not sure if that makes me a looser but whatever.

Sounds to me like the lads in the van were talking about trad poling. Not sure how you can give WFP 'a try' without fully investing. And of course its quicker, scrubby scrubby, squirty squirty, no ladders, how can it not be quicker.
