Hi I've got my first conservatory to do tomorrow. The customer said its got self cleaning glass. Am I better off just with pure water or use a bit of washing up liquid the roof is quite bad. Thanks in advance

A filthy self cleaning roof, oh the irony /emoticons/biggrin.png

On those I have used just hot pure, and also a few times a weak solution of ubik with no adverse effects, if using a cleaning agent like ubik just be sure to wet the area well first then apply a bit and quickly aggitate and rinse off, don't leave to dwell more than a few seconds.

I've got Ubik but I was just abit panicky useing it. Didn't want to mess it up I'm allowed to use there water to start with. Will a washing up liquid be appropriate as I've got no hot water. Thanks

Personally I wouldn't use any chemicals on self cleaning glass . Is it the blue tint stuff ???
The installers / manufacturers say not to clean them as it deteriorates the surface .... Your meant to just let rain do it

I ve got the super me soft flocked brush to use on it. Went around earlier to have a look at the conservatory and it is pretty bad. It's my first one I've done so will put 110 % into it

If it's good access squeegee is always going to give better result on conny roof
I don't agree with that at all. I would never do a conny roof with trad tools, no way. What about the struts, finial, crest, getting up there...... No chance WFP all the way.

I've been asked to do a total of five, yup five bloody conny roofs this week, booked them all in for March, gave it a little of 'why do you want it doing now? you wont see it, gets dark before you're home! How about we do it in March then you have it good for the rest of the summer?'

All agreed /emoticons/smile.png)

Hopefully I get on well with doing it. I priced it good I was well happy because I had the van sign written a few days ago and that is where the customer has came from

I meant the self cleaning glass

I would use weak ubik solution on it and will be fine

Talking very weak like a slosh in a bucket of water

I then dip the brush in it and do a panel of the roof

No letting it dwell just crack on with it

I totally agree @Tuffers but i will get the squeegee out on a pole if there are lots of bits on the glass and drag them off with the water before final rinse with pure..just cos it makes it so much easier to rinse all the little bits off
