was looking to starting canvassing in January and upgrade all of my equipment to the next level as I am only on a diy level at the moment. As i upgrade I will be able to do more a day and earn more money in a day so basically Just stepping up. The only thing is i don't want to wait until January. Any opinions on canvassing this Tuesday- Thursday?

Leave it until the 4th, you will just p*ss people off and look like a desperate newb. How do I know? ...because thats what I would think if you knocked on my door over the next few days.

I know what you are saying as I havn't bothered but I want to get ahead and trying to hold myself back until the 4th.

I will be delivering leaflets if not, as I do need to move forward quickly.

Nought wrong with leaflets IMO, they can just put them in the bin, you're not disturbing anyone. And you're not associating your face with someone that bothers people while they are trying to escape work or lifes chores if only for a week or so. Keep that energy to get going and pile it into the 4th onwards.

If you want to be that guy that always makes excuses as to why this didn't happen or that didn't happen then don't go out and canvass.

I have to disagree with @TolishAPurd on this point, (sorry tolish) we are now a secular society and whilst the Christmas period is are Catholic / Christian tradition everyone partakes at whatever level they choose.

There is nothing sacred about the next two days, they are days where many many of the population will go to work and are just two more days on the calendar, they have no significance whatsoever.

I have a girl who works for me as a full time canvasser @richard123456 and she will be working tomorrow and Wednesday and she will bring in several new customers as she is damn good at what she does.

It is a horses for courses question Richard, if you need to move forward and get going then do not put off till tomorrow what you can do today, get out and canvass, make full use of the daylight you have.

I will say don't knock before 10:30am as even I find that rude. But knock doors in daylight and top it off with an hour or so of leaflet dropping once the sun goes down.

Good luck with it.

Build a business plan.

I don't mean

1. Make more money.

2. Get more houses.

Build a proper plan with what you want, how you will achieve it and why you want to do it.

I spent around 2 days making my first business plan and it made a massive difference.

Go for it I say. I finished at lunchtime last Tuesday and I thought I'd go and canvass a few houses on a new build where I already have a few jobs. I knocked about 30 doors and put leaflets through ones who were out. I picked up an £8 4 weekly and a £15 4 weekly.

Canvas the world I say more people in around this time of year so more people will see you the more the merrier. ........

Yeah, the good business is going out and getting more customers.

It wasn't a year ago @peter rogers that i recall you were one of the most aggressive business builders on here but now your numbers are well up tou seem to be advising against canvassing when ever possible when you yourself used to promote your business every single available hour.

It would be a great time to canvass with everyone being in.

Im in the same boat but im leaving it till the 4th as i want an easy week before the hard work begins plus it just feels wrong this week.

Im using this week to sort the van, order my flyers and make a plan of attack.

Its great that you want to get out there, so if thats what you want to do then do it theres no right or wrong answer
