Good on you for standing your ground mate. He was trying to get you to move and failed, he was trying to get a fight out of you and failed. And you got your money. WIn win.

You did the right thing, in any situation like that its always best to stand your ground and let him throw the first punch if need be. Self defense and all that

Coming on here it seems like attacks and threats are all part of becoming a windy these days. Not trying to act hard or macho or anything but, if you don't or havent done a martial art, then I would highly recommend it. A few minutes on youtube and you can see some horrible stuff that goes on in the world, it pays to have some skills to look after yourself for when the :turd: hits the fan.

tbh it shook me up!!!im out to clean windows not fight someone.these guys were devoid of any reason.while I carried on cleaning acting like I wasn't bothered.i said to my op get the money and get out of here.the trouble is when u speak about it afterwards you always get someone saying I would of chinned him blah blah.its different when your in that situation. ive got my op to watch out for -van & my front teeth

yep learn a martial art, get fit and most importantly some stamina.

usually these loud mouth construction worker types drink too much beer, there used to being aggressive and threatening people, usually big lads who like throwing there weight around and playing up to their mates... there the kind of guys you see getting into drunken brawls.

9 times out of 10 if you have some fighting skills and some stamina these types are gassed out in 5 minutes

Mark, you did exactly the right thing, and you have my total respect just for finishing the job. Its never worth having a fight-you lose and you end up hurt/killed/etc, ...and if you win you end up in trouble with the law, sued, hurt etc. Not worth it at all especially with travellers. Fighting is a big part of many of there cultures, and I've even trained with some before. Nice lads, but awesome fighters, I wouldnt want to take one on over some old dears windows. But if things went wrong and that bloke set upon you, it would be really good to have just a few skills is all I'm saying.

lets just say ive been heavily involved in martial arts for a long time due to this kind of situation(since stopped).martial arts don't help when your drinking my mate got picked on in a pub by some geezers(3rd dan)ended up with a fractured skull & orbital.ive stopped it now-so many nutters out there.have to to discern the situation and use you brains, easier said than done

Martial arts do help, they help by giving you more skills to defend yourself, they dont make you hard but its better than knowing nothing of how to fight.

It has to be a practical martial art though, things such as karate and tae kwon do are ok as a sport but black belt status or Dan status can be obtained by nothing other than learning techniques and following patterns and a few years of your time.

Anyway its better to avoid it as no one needs that kind of **** when going to work.

Agree, too many black belts are earnt through attendance rather than skill. I even remember a female thai boxer at the club I was at that was well overweight, technique was sh***, etc, and yet she was one of the senior ranks. It really cheapened it for everyone else that worked hard and were good, yet they were way behind her.

I am very competent to look after myself and i know most times i would win a fight purely from training krav maga and boxing but i would always look for a way to avoid it

It doesn’t make you hard having a fight and winning although sometimes it is unavoidable

Even top level krav practitioners are taught to avoid if possible

If you do have to react to someone attacking then block and strike at the same time usually with a kick in the nuts combined with a swift jab in the throat or palm to the ear very hard and run..no prizes for standing your ground and risking harm to yourself..do what you need to to get out of the situation and nothing more

5 minutes?

Never seen a street or bar fight last more than 60 seconds.

Personally, I'm a lover not a fighter.

I've never been in a fight that lasted longer than seconds

Out of the ring anyhow

Not had any aggro from other windies or anyone else...hope it stays that way until I retire.

Did you see the vehicle of the Chief gobshite? Be handy to see where it's registered to and apply Gripfill liberally to the shut lines at 3am. The muppet probably upsets so many people he wouldn't have a clue whodunnit (not that I advocate criminality).
