HI I could do with some advise on Sqeegee rubber.

I currently use Unger stainless steal Sqeegees, and was sent a load of replacement rubber when I purchased them, and think this must be unger rubber.

But it's time to buy some more, and wanted your advice on what rubber to purchase.

My Sqeegee skills are not fantatastic yet as I have not been doing this long, but I do some times wonder if this rubber is a bit naff.

After removing the water from the glass,I see a chemical oiley smear where the Sqeegee has been.

Any help would be great thanks.

If its Ungar rubber it will have the logo on it ever 6 inches or so. It's quite normal for their to be a very slight film of detergent left on the glass, but this is almost inperceptable under normal light, maybe in the very low sun this time of year you might spot it, however this will evaporate very quickly leaving a perfect finish.

If you are seeing this oily film all the time and it remains there all the time, there could something else contaminating the water.

hi rubber can be a personal thing but unger rubber should be fine

perhaps change your soap could help you try check out daveyboy1 's post ''no more messing about'' in this section

good luck

Unger soft is the best rubber to use with unger channels this time of year

I swear by facelift razr but not in unger channels as it is slightly bigger front to back than unger rubber and doesn't work so well

Ettore..moerman and wagtail channels i will use facelift..unger channels use unger

I see thanks Kahoona, yes it does disappear,I was worried it may reapear when I leave lol,I'm nuts.

I will take a look Norm cheers.

I very nearly purchased razor this morning, saved me some penny's there Davey.

Thanks again for all your help.

It's just a little too long imo as it tends to wrap round the edge a touch meaning the edge is not 100% on the glass properly

i once bought 2 multi packs of Unger rubber,it turned out to be duff!

place i bought it from[soapnational] was reluctant to do a refund inc postage so i drove out to his shop in person , prepared to tip him upside down if he gave me any nonsense . he started giving me nonsense! said i hadnt bought it from him, EVENTUALLY he did the refund !!!

last few yrs iv used Moerman soft rubber- a very ordinary but reliable rubber ,not had a bad batch yet

ive tried all squeegee rubber,i like unger soft-ettore is also a very good rubber.i am using black diamond rubber a present(german)I would highly recommend it,its very similar to ettore rubber but much cheaper.i had a similar problem with a batch I bought!!!I wanted a batch of 10 inch rubber.a certain window cleaning company cut a load of 12 inch down to 10 very poorly-had to argue the case to get a refund

I always buy my rubber in the longest lengths i can get as i have different size channels and cut all mine to suit my modded ends and liquidators anyway

I'm using black Diamond at the mo a good rubber and if you contact them ask for Nathan he might give you some samples to try as he did me also I find RAZR a good strong rubber has lasted a good while without any cuts or nicks

Watch that language Norm

That stuff should be a swear word..bleedin useless stuff

Poolex

I use razr or unger soft

Never tried poolex in 25 years

Always had a supply of the syr stuff in the local diy shop

All this talk about rubbers. Durex do a fine job kept my kid count to 2 (must of had a bad batch, but yove got to love them when there here?) haven't tried it on a squeegee though Sorry.

But with my expiriance it wont last long.
