Resin Again....

I don't know if it was this forum about a year or so back I stated there will be huge problems with production of pure water with the di heads being sold in the market. In other markets they use stainless steel vessels with give 100% yield.

If I have time I will continue doing tests.

One point in doing these tests the flow of water has had to be reset to to particle size but this is due to me using approx 750 ml of resin with input of 100ppm.

Tuffers I have completed the first test and will do another test later on in the week. From a 500 ml vessel filled with MB-115 and input of 100 ppm litres produced was aprox 123 litres.

If I was to repeat this continuous with 25 litres then would produce 6150 litres.

QC report batch within spec.

One note flow rate had to be slowed down but this would be due to size of beads.

I'll do another two tests this week and let you know the results.

No disrespect Doug but after 12 years of DI only and performance monitoring there is no doubt in my mind that Tulsion MB115 regardless of where it is bought from has gone down the pan. As you know, I bought new DI vessels and a new TDS meter and these had zero effect on resin performance. At this moment in time, your resin is at an all time low in performance. I've checked everything you've suggested as well as everything I can think of. Gradually, over the last 2 years this resin has deteriorated in my honest opinion. Maybe my water content has changed, I don't know but Five full days from one fill on my 11ltr vessel can only be described as poor, very poor.
5 days that can't be right? Something else wrong here? What's the tds going into the tank?

You remember the other day my water was coming out at 002 Doug? Well it's still coming out at 000 since it went back down. I've not made a lot of pure tbh, but when swirling the vessel there is a noticable lack of resistance from the resin, so I guess it won't be long before it rises.

Found this on another forum, interesting stuff!

I am aware of that but not going to get drawn into this debate.

This is their spec :- http://www.resin-products.com/MixedBedResins.pdf

The resin we sell does NOT contain that grade.

Every single time each year Tulsion is mentioned on quality it has never come from our supply.

I have listened to everything and taken it all on board and early next year our brand will be re-branded unique to us and our distributors MB-115 SB.

Hope this explains thing and we close tomorrow until 6th Jan. I cannot wait for my hols, hope you guys have a good break as well. Thunder and lightening here in very dark Scotland.

Gis a clue winp.
Well...... I used the last of my Tulsion on my last vessel fill and had a bit left over so put it all in. I filled it more than normal, I would estimate that I put approx 15% more resin in. However, I got more than 15% extra output from the vessel, there was a noticeable difference in resin life, the resin didn't go off like a rocket AND the old vessel shake had a useful effect- like it used to. I remember a few years ago that a bag of resin would give me about 2.5 fills of a 11ltr vessel. I have, over time slightly reduced the amount I put in each time to make Three equal fills. I would assume that having a bit less resin in the vessel would equate to a bit less in pure production? Like 15% less resin would equal 15% less pure water- makes sense?

I have standard type resin vessels with both top and bottom strainers, maybe having more resin in the vessel makes it work more efficiently? I have bought some Unger resin in desperation and this is what is currently in my vessel, the good news is that I already have data for Unger resin from when I used it before (and didn't rate it highly) so I will be able to compare results as I have also over filled this vessel too. It's a long shot but there was a definite improvement in performance of my last fill with Tulsion.

No Doug not me. Doesn't matter it turned up and fitted lol. No damage done. Just thought you should know Incase you wasn't getting emails /emoticons/smile.png

This is interesting as had a snipe peek as this is posted by a Phil Goscombe who resigned from Resin Products in October. So is this actually him or an imposter !!!!

I've never had an issue with MB115 resin but with all the criticism I've just taken delivery of a bag of Unger from WCW for £70.80 just out of curiosity to see if it'll last any longer? I am DI only with out of tap reading of 0.075 I use about 10.000 litres a month and with twin DIs it lasts 3 months. I only change the second vessels resin and switch tanks, however I fill a 300 litre water butt for 14 hours very slowly maybe some of you fill up too quick not sure? I have been wfp for 6 years and the resin always lasts 3 months, I'll keep you updated.

Anymore outcome on this, I use little water and have Tulsion 115 and it's at 002 already and doesn't seem it's been in that long, hoe many litres should you get out of 11ltr Di vessel, my tap water is 46ppm
