Hi, for last 5 years i have been cleaning traditional methods, just picked up a used system but unsure how to put the hoses in the right places......

i have set up as i am sure its meant to go, and had it filling up, i have replaced the two filters and filled the resin tank up half way up, but the water is still not reading 000, im getting readings at 145. do i have to replace anything in the middle section at all? i replaced two filters either side, one was carbon and the other was just like a foam cartridge. excuse my lack of knowledge this is all new to me if someone can guide me that would be great it didnt come with any info and the guy i got it from is a **** and isn't helpful at all

I know nothing about RO's as I don't need one, but you need to fill the DI up to where it curves and also have you got the water direction going the right way through the DI?

wats ur waste water reading ? do u have water coming out two hoses after the white 4040 membrane ?one should be waste one shud be pure if u dnt have a tap on it all water will be coming out waste

hi peeps sorry for late reply, im in tunbridge wells area, the second pump is only used to fill takes couple hours as opposed to 8. PETER ROGERS thank you i need to check that i have two coming out the left, and one on the right, i have one hose on the left going into the resin tank and the other one going into the first input in the tank, when filling up the water goes through the second input on the top right?? (just left of the right filter housing)i know i have the hose set right going out the tank into the pump, but the rest im stuck, as mentioned just replaced the filters and new resin, im sure i dont have it set up right with the hoses.....

I don't recognise the 4040 housing. With the champ housing you have 2 outlets on one side and 1 inlet on the other. So the pipework from your tap will go to your first prefilter (sediment) and then across to your second prefilter (carbon block for chlorine removal) and then into the inet of you r/o. The 2 r/o outlets on the other end will be pure and waste. If you don't know which is which then just turn the tap on. The water coming out the fastest is waste and the other is pure.

What I don't see is a gate valve on the waste which you use to throttle back that waste. That creates pressure inside the membrane housing forcing water through the membrane which is your pure. Depending on your tds, your waste ratio could be anything between 1 to 1 to 3 to 1 - waste to pure. You must never run the r/o with the waste valve completely closed.

The pure water then goes through the di vessel to polish off any remaining tds and into the tank. The waste goes outside the van to the nearest drain.

Now the serious stuff.

You need to secure the tank to the van floor with high tensile bolts through the angle iron base and spreader plates underneath. Using that ratchet strapping is next to pointless. Those eye hooks in the van floor aren't much good either TBH. This is your safety at stake.

If I were you I would also remove the plylining wood floor. Water trapped between the wood and the floor won't dry out and will create rust issues before long. I would paint the floor with Protectakote but others recommend a variety of different solutions.

That is a big help mate thank you,,,, ive now set this up in my transit, should bolting tomorrow, water proofing by the weekend, thanks for the heads up, last thing i want is that tipping over,, ive taken some pics of it in the van, ive doodled on them to give a clearer idea on where the hoses are going to, hope this helps, and again thanks for taking the time out.....

on a separate note dose anyone use the cleaning planner? i see it pop up i was told to use George a while ago.....

Okay, the centre outlet is your pure.

The side outlet is your waste. If your getting water out of your pure then whoever set this up may have added a reducer of some sort inside the nut screwed into the waste outlet.

If this is so then your membrane is shot.

Thanks doug the center hoe to my hose real for pure? i have the hose coming from the bottom of the tank into the pump and out

looking at your first pictures and looks everything is connected wrong as you have the waste going into your tank on pic 1 and the pure hose from ro going round the back.

The centre hose coming from the membrane that gets connected to your di vessel inlet. Them the outlet of the di vessel gets connected to one of the top ports of your tank. You seem to have two, bit odd.

The port on the side of the membrane the same side as the pure this goes to the drain as it is waster water.

The port on the bottom of the tank goes to pump inlet, outlet goes to the hose reel
