Cleaning your brush?

Hi guys.

Okay my second brush related post.... I do like a good brush!

Do any of you guys clean your brush to get all the unthinkables off it?

Looked at my brush tonight and it looks like it's been out for a really bad night on the town!

What's the general rule of thumb?

Cheers Jason!

I just add a little flash floor liquid to some pure water and let it soak over night, then give it a good rinse out in the morning.

Good qu. My brush today looks naff, end of bristles all grey, was cleaning bungalows that I usually trad, so don't know if it's anything to do with that.

Soak it in pure, use a dog comb (the metal one) the next morning and give it a fierce shake and flick to get out any last remaining dirt etc

I swished mine about in a dustbin full of rain water today, probably not cleaned it since I was at the same house 8 weeks ago

i hardly ever clean mine to b honist it get dunked the trad bucket from time to time but thats about it lol i just pick the cob webs and stuff off with my fingers

I've never found the need to clean them in water they must clean themselves surely when you are working any fluffy bits I remove with a brush comb I had off Lord Lucan.

I swiftly run the paalm of my hand over the ends of the bristles to remove any muck i pick up from filthy sills etc and that's it

No need to clean thoroughly as the water does that while you clean

Okay... Warm soapy water for an hour... Good rinse and then on the radiator over night.

In the morning a good scrub with my hands and good as new.

No more window bits for me my friends.

I clean mine out in two different ways depending on what is needed:

(1) Bits in the bristles - give it a good blast under a tap, usually a customers outside tap to remove the bits - paint flakes, bits of erroneous stuff etc

(2) Discoloured - I soak it in PVC cleaning solution. i.e. i put it in a bucket of solution and let it slosh about in the back of the van for a day, or overnight in the house. It takes the discolouration out of the white bristles.
