I am fed up at the moment not being able to work, i got a couple more weeks to go before I can start work again.

When liquidator first came out I didn't get on with it

So I thinking while i am recovering I would like to try again with size 10 & 14 channel.

Will the liquidator channel fit on to any wagtail handle? The wagtail I got you can see in the picture below.

I am sure i read somewhere about using heat gun to change the angle of the wagtail handle, is this necessary?

Couldn't tell you

But wish you a speedy recovery

Best take it easy and get better proper than rush back and end up off again

I wouldn't be without a liquidator on a wagtail handle- for trad work.it will fit the handle in your pic-no probs!!!still getting tiny swirl marks though!!even with new rubber(using black diamond rubber)I don't use a heat gun.loosen the Philips screw until its slightly floppy on the glass and it will work a treat

youve GOT to get the moerman channel sitting at Exact same angle as it was with the wagtail channel [ else it wont work ] this is how i got mine exactly right before i drilled the centre screwView attachment 6594 hole with the blue disc

You don't need to do that

As long as the channel is in the clamp with the top of the channel touching the top of the clamp it works fine

It helps to heat the lower part of the clamp with heat gun and push it against a table or flat surface while the channel is in it to take up the slack creating a tighter fit

The mod where you heat the handle and alter it to 20° is the simplest mod ever and i wouldn't use a wagtail without it now whether pole or by hand

This is the mod

hey boar!!! do you get swirl marks when you've done your mod, thanx
i never do no. the lads who work for me couldnt get on wi the MoerWag and gave up . but iv hung on , and altho its not as good a glider as the wagtail original , it makes up for it in lack of detailin needed

I have sacked mine for good, gone back to my faithfull ettore stainless and ettore rubber cause the red razr has turned into rubbish quality.

Used a liquidator for the first time today. Only did two houses before it went back in the van. Just couldn't get on with it. Think it could be the moreman rubber that I don't like so going to try again tomorrow with the old faithful ettore rubber in it

As it stands at the moment I'm a long way off being impressed though.

Lately I've been using 18" Liquidator with BD Medium in Wagtail PC. I recently done some rubber tests in an untampered with handle (yep I did manage to find one in the shed) and BD, Razer Red, Ettore in Liquidator, Steccone and Wagtail channels were miles ahead of the also rans (Steccone, a blue no name, and Wagtail). Interestingly they were really really close and I'd be happy with any of the three, but for slip the BD ruled. Occasionally if the rubber moves I'll get a light line from one end or the other (never both). You really do have to be pedantic with cutting the rubber at exactly the end of the blue tip I've found. Also keep the angle of handle to glass the same right throughout the fanning movement. Check the handle to disc occasionally as even a little bit of slop can muck up the smoothness of the fanning. I'd probably recommend doing it Davey's way initially because if you don't like it then you can simply put the Wagtail channel back in, no harm done. I use 10/12/14 and 18 in Wagtail handles now. No problems with any of them. Heads up: I second Davey's handle heating suggestion. Totally transformed my workflow. All working handles in my kit are at 20 degrees. "Herman Rules".

I don't know what happened to the red rubber, it definitely changed.

Shame, I have been using it for a long time but I can't carry on it with now so I start using the 3 star unger rubber which is the next best thing before razrbalde turn :turd:

I agree with a lot of the points raised here. when I got my first Wagtail, I just couldn't get on with it. It probably took 6 to 8 months before I got going properly with it; this was 12 inch with Wag channel and Unger Hard rubbers. I thought it was doing quite well, but not perfectly well. I then bought the Liquidator channel because I already used angle cut channels so new it would be a good idea. I put it in my Wag (same as the one in your pic) using nylon ties pushed in along the channel, and carried on with the Unger rubbers. It took a while to get it right, because you do have to alter the handle, and it worked Okay, but not perfectly. One day I tried the Moerman channel, that I had cast aside, and whoa, what a difference. I put it down to my inexperience that it hadn't worked before, but, again, a bit of tweaking!! So that's where I'm at now, Wagtail with a 12 inch liquidator channel and rubber. It is so good that it's almost impossible NOT to get it right. All you people out there that have given Wagtails and Liquidators up. get them out and PERSEVERE!!!!

Got my liquidator today! First impressions I think the unger channel is better but will give it a proper good testing on Monday !

yeah agree my wagtail combi is great to clear my condensation from my bedroom windows and my first run liquidators that apperantly had a wee error in them:rolleyes: are waiting to be fixed in boiling water

Just received 2 x 30mm Unger s plus that aint pretty but will pop straight onto my unger handle and work great without ends falling off  heating handles, changing angles

just saying :laugh::laugh: wish they made them right first time :wondering: but what would we tinker with then

Do you just use the screw on the wagtail to tighten it up to the liquidator channel? I'd rather do this than start drilling holes. Also which wagtail have you got and did you alter the handle angle?.

Keefo I don't use the screw at all. Set the channel eyeball it from the edge and where you see fresh air just pack the jaw then reinsert the channel. The packing will be enough to hold the channel firm. Alternatively you can go the whole hog and practice your heat gun skills...

I use the heat gun and the screw

I don't drill holes i use the screw to just hold the channel in case i drop it and then move the channel

Eric, in your pivot control wagtail do the pins that control the movement come with it and do you use them?

Hi Keefo,

Yes if you buy the Pivot Control (PC or PC Flipper) then you should get the pins...but...I never use them. They supposedly were put there as "training wheels" for those that weren't used to the Wagtail concept. They don't and never have made any sense to me and the PC was the first Wagtail I purchased.

Which pole have you found this part of the world that fits most handles, as in a cosy fit and not too loose.
