I went with Simply business as A-Plan were having a laugh with their quote way to expensive got the same cover for less than half the price .

I have decided not to take on gutter cleans etc this year as i am busy enough with windows .

Great to hear @Iron Giant! Get in touch if there's anything I can help you with. Aside from the usual channels (phone, email, our Twitter), feel free to just drop me a message if you ever have any questions.

Quite a few SB customers on here who have found this their preferred way to get in touch /emoticons/smile.png

I just have basic. If someone trips over your hose type cover. I don't have things worked on covered as I simply can't afford it I clean windows carpets cars etc etc. Gotta be carefull

Does anyone have a policy with co-Vea or Axa through simply business website? What are they like and what do they cover, traditional and wfp? What heights are you limited to ?

I was with AXA some time ago, useless.

I use Gleaming as they are the only policy provider I have found that actually covers you for the item you are working on not just surrounding items that you have no intention of touching.

Ok I have been with gleaming but they seem to be quite expensive at £15 per mont ?
I understand, but you get what you pay for.

Example, you get asked to do a full clean on a conservatory, half way through doing the roof you somehow break the panel you are working on, well most (all others I have asked) do not cover that item - if you somehow broke a panel either side of the one you were working on then that would be covered but not the actual one you were working on.

I posed this question to an insurance broker and they said (I paraphrase here) 'Oh well if you broke a window it would probably be less than the cost of your excess so you wouldn't claim anyway'

Fact is I have some jobs where replacing panes of glass would be four figure jobs and then some and that's just a fact. Also I had a window fitter tell me when I was inquiring about some potential extension work on my home that bi-fold sliding doors are £2k per pair, well that's a shed load more than my excess and with most insurers you wouldn't be covered if the worst happened.

So your call, go with the attitude of save £60 per year or so but it would take just one hefty bit of damage in 30 years and your still worse out of pocket. Your choice but I like my ass covered properly.

That's a good point , I have been with gleaming and found they were good I was just seeing what else was out there. Do they cover traditional and wfp? What are the limits such as height and so on

I personally would recommend Gleaming-have used many over the last 18 years but everyone else that I've had didn't cover the glass you are working on. I even questioned the last one I insured with about what would happen if I broke a window, she said that if I then put the ladder through the window after I'd broken I would then be covered-crazy!!!

As we have all learned already when it comes to our equipment you get what you pay for-we even say it when a customer tells us we are more expensive than their last window cleaner.

What price for peace of mind-it's your choice. But I'm really happy with Gleaming.
