Hi guys. Just joined this page. I've been trad for 10 years and after a couple of falls off the ladder last year I've decided it's time to make the jump to wfp. Any advise or hints and tips would be greatly appreciated!!

I'm just in the process of letting all my customers know about the changeover an will be getting a system

Installed in my van in 8 weeks. Very excited but also a bit anxious as its all very new to me!! Thanks for reading. Liam

welcome to the forum mate, i do about 85% WFP rest trad, be prepared for a bit of a learning curve with the small things like getting used to managing your hose around peoples gardens etc. At first it might do your head in how many times you have unsnag the hose from wheelie bin wheels and garden walls patio edges etc. but in no time you will suss out best ways.

Theres loads of good posts/threads in the WFP section so well worth a few hours browsing there.

good luck fella

Ft here is a thread in here with an explanation letter for customers why you would be changing over safety all that sort of thing if you have a look around plenty helpful information on the forum

Best of luck

I'm still getting used to it mate , takes a few gos to plan out your attack of where to pull the hose for handyness etc. My advice would be to take your time , I think the problem I had at the start was trying to work to fast

Just go for it bud. Changed all customers to wfp when I Sub contracted work off my old boss. Lost one out of over 200. Picked up a few conservatory roofs and Got more booked in. Those customers who are never in won't even notice. Windows done as an when good for you. Card through the door. Bacs payment received. Love them customers.

The BEST piece of advice i can give you is this!!!!

Before you swap over to water fed pole. Swap to pure water and ecover washing up liquid. Get all the frames and sills spotless with pure water only! Clean all the vents, anything thats dirty with JUST pure water. A couple of mates did it near me when they swapped over. 7 months before they had their first complaint!

I was trad for 25 years on and off

Loved wfp from day one

7 months in and I couldn't imagine having to trad whole houses with ladders etc

And the conny roofs and fascias are so easy my tip is just change and go clean your customers without saying anything

If they are in then when you knock to get payment just tell them you have cleaned them with 100% pure water with your new wfp system as it is a whole lot safer and that it has been through filters etc and it can only dry 100% clear due to this

You may get a dirty spot on the top as you have cleaned all the muck from above the frames but it is rare and if it happens give me a shout and I'll whip back over it when I'm passing

Worked for me and some customers 7 months in are still unaware until i clean them on a day they're at home and i say oh I've been doimg it like this for 7 months now

as davey has said just bat on and do all your graft WFP explain to cutomers as you limp up there path that you have fallen twice off the laddders and your going for the safer option

you will never look back

you have all ready done the hard work over the years getting your round, this is the easy part so much easier, quicker, safer, more money to

get gd pole gardiner 25 or 22 gd luck

Couldn't agree more with this. If not pure water at least clean vents with cloth as you do them Trad last time. I Sub work of a class only cleaner. Worked with him for a year once I knew which villages I would get I started doing frames on his time. Made it so mutch easier for the switch over.

I appreciate the jobs about time and it's easier and less chance of dirty runs wfp if frames done every time. Will never understand how you can knock on a door for £. When frames are covered in cobwebs though. Never understood why he didn't push frames as an add on if money not pride is what it's about.

Here's one for you.. Just spoke to a local window cleaner who says all he does is run tap water through a DI resin and it comes out at 000? Our tap water is 170ppm. Is he talking **** or am I wasting my money on a full RO system?

You can filter any water to be 000 by just using a DI.

Depends how much water he is using TBH.

Minimal per day it MAY be cheaper.

General rule of thumb is.....

100PM and over = RO 300L a day used or +

If your ppm Is low then di only is fine

If it starts going above 100 then you will start to eat through resin which will become very expensive
